Aside from sounding like you have an ax to grind, you're being overdramtic.

Dealing with the French will always be a major negative.
I have no ax to grind. I just think Boeing has really 'screwed the pooch' over the last 7 years. The 787 program is a disaster, the 757 line has been permanently shut down, & Boeing refuses to design a new NB.

They're falling behind IMO.

Yeah. Wow, that actually would make a lot of sense. Maybe an 'American to the rescue' for the C-series.. interesting thought.

I agree with the 757 line being shut down to early.. Can you imagine the sales of a 757NEO?

Unfortunately the only thing left is a A321NEO with shark winglets. I was really bummed when they shut down the 757 line. I'm still bummed.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I logged in just to post that question.

I've thought about it for a while now:

- go over the entire aircraft and try to reduce weight

- get some newer, more fuel-efficient engines

- see if there are any other aerodynamic improvements to be gained

That could be a great aircraft!!

Default 757 mods

thought aa was doing a winglet mod for 757 as we speak??? also thoguht the 737 were to replace all MD80 in the next few years. might just be posturing to get a better deal from boeing. would make sense to stay boeing to help streamline costs. although they are talking a 100 seater joining the fleet. maybe the 318 little spendy for the size, think the brasilia 190 is cheaper hence the jetblue purchase. one things for sure, the management is chomping at the bit to get a contract signed. lot's of rumours as well for expansion. all good stuff if it comes to fruition with a decent contract. time will tell.

All of the 757s have winglets. About half of the 763s have winglets. More importantly, they just committed to redoing the whole 75/76 fleet with Flat Panel displays, about half of the fleet is done. So they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

The 737s will replace most of the S80s... but I believe AMR wants to diversify its fleets a little more in case the whole Boeing line ever gets shut down for some reason. I think the Airbii will replace some of the S80 fleet as well as some domestic 757s (eventually.)

It was a great aircraft, but nobody was buying them. If you have a large fleet of 737's why would you buy a single isle 757 that seats about 10 more pax than a 737-900? Boeing's replacement 757 airframe is the 737-900ER which isn't really a replacement.

Airbus has it figured out when it comes to fleet commonality issues for singe isle aircraft. The savings Airbus products can generate in crew training/staffing costs alone is huge. The 321 with sharklets and the NEO will actually be a viable transcon aircraft that performs well which will be a game changer in the narrowbody fleeting of airlines due to the cost savings of fleet commonaltiy. That's why everyone is ordering Airbus products right now IMO.

Default Boeing has head in sand

Wow, Who would have thought that such a calculated error, standing idly by whilst Airbus scoops up hundreds or NEO orders. Management is doing a woeful job from the foibles with the 787 launch and lest not forget the 747-8 is also delayed significantly. Maybe they should purge their management and some directors and hire Mr. Leahy, because he's doing a terrific job:
