Thanks posting Tony.

This is really going to effect the regional outstation domiciles the most. They have a lot of really earily shows with late releases. Or am I reading the table wrong?

"Like"

When you hear about airlines upping their wages/benefits etc. then you'll know there's a shortage.

They're doing this in China and India.

Seriously, you would be surprised at the number of individuals who think that more "rest" hours in a road hotel is some sort of "victory feather" in the rest cap.

If you'll pardon the pun, you can "rest" assured that more time on the road for more rest and the same pay is going to translate to less time at home on an annual basis.

We'll just have to wait and see how it all works out.
We all know about the law of unintended consequences. However, this isn't a bill to protect qol, but simply about pilots getting real adequate rest. It's up to us in our contracts to protect qol. Lord, help us please.

This is the proposal from September 14, 2010.

We do a lot of jibber jabber over what the rules might be. Well, here's the actual document.

Also, the rules that YOU will work under will be whatever the paid lobbyist can get changed from this proposal.

I expect that the part of the rules that require more hiring for narrow-body and regional flying will be phased in over a couple of years, but the part that allows for more two-pilot trips to Europe will take effect immediately.

Call me a cynic...

Yep.

Isn't this what we are all hoping for??

Flying moved back to mainline due to inability of regionals to staff all those 50 and 70 seaters? There are plenty of pilots at the regionals to move up to the mainline aircraft. With any luck regionals will shrink back to flying 1900's, and Saabs.

Wouldn't it be ironic if a lack of pilots available took care of the scope problem?
Actually, it could happen. Regionals lose their pilots. They cut back service. Mainlines replace regional frequency with narrowbodys once or twice a day.

That also relieves the congestion at big hub airports by cutting the number of small planes taking up valuable slots.

Works for me.

You can say that again. Its nice to know that the ATA wants the charter airline who haul the bulk of our military guys around the world to have fatigued pilots.

Frankly, that position sounds like treason to me.

I bet your 100% right. If they just look at how airline managements and contracts with their unions go this is exactly what you do. A management team makes a fair agreement and then later you back and pound away until you get a concession. There is no reason for them not to pursue this with the FAA later under the guise of it being detrimental to their operation and ability to make a profit and therefore it will cost pilots jobs. Now FAA, do you want that to be your fault?

Hopefully the FAA doesn't care.
