In general I support the elimination of the Age 60 rule, but I've got to call you out on this. The baby boomers who are facing the effect of Age 60, invented "Me NOW!" You have got to be kidding me to try to lay this on younger pilots.

Ok, we are all even; it's time to stop the infighting and get going the same direction. It is going to take tremendous solidarity to confront the forces of globalization on satisfactory terms, and the profession has not put the economic system in place to do it. The unions still think you can do it by merely jawboning "unity." It won't happen. There has to be financial incentives to cause it to happen.

I agree. When the senior pilots had the opportunity, they slammed the junior pilots every single time. That, indeed, set the standard, and it eventually gave us, among other things, the A, B, and C pay scales. In late 1979, the junior pilots started striking back by voting to get the senior guys out. Can't blame them.

John Prater is the last hope for ALPA. I believe that he will lead the industry back on track and that includes abolishing the age 60 rule.
I would bet that when all of you are nearing your own 60th birthday, that you will want to at least have the choice of flying past age 60 and all too many will be financially forced to work past age 60.
I am here to tell everyone, that you should NOW, before it is too late, write to your Reps in Congress and your Union Reps. Tell them to support legislation now in Congress that extends the FAA’s age restriction from 60 to 65. You will thank yourself someday for that. Now may be the very last chance to change this curse on our industry which is the age 60 rule.
Send a message to Congress: http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/

Can you pro age 60 guys please come up with an argument? Saying "you knew the rules when you signed on" isn't very convincing except to the other pro age 60 guys. If this is the only thing you can come up with to support your position, do you really have a leg to stand on? Can you honestly say that you believe once a law/rule is enacted it should never be changed?
Luckily laws are not written on emotion.

why write to your congressman?
airline managments' hands are already in the back pocket of washington
they dont want age 60, cause think of all the top tier pilots that theyll have to pay for an additional 5+ years.
once again, yet another reason to fix the incremental pay scale
