Jet Blue at it again

You certainly aren't one of us. No honorable Union pilot would take a non-union position that undercuts the contract of the unionized carriers. That's exactly what you did just to keep flying. Perhaps you were just too lazy to go get a job where you had to work 40 hours a week..
Making a blanket statement that an enemployed UNION pilot
is a scab or less than honorable because he takes a job at a NON UNION carrier is pure horse hockey.
I suppose if you get furloughed or your company goes Tango Uniform, that you would never work at a non union carrier to feed your family?
I too was a UNION pilot who went to work for a NON UNION (At the time) cargo carrier. Was I a SCAB then for doing it? Did I dis-honor the profession?
We UNION Pilots eventually got a UNION on that property and now currently have one of the best contracts in the industry.
So give the Jet Blue guys a break. I bet most of them want a union and want a contract there. I bet that they will have one in the future....be it ALPA, Teamsters or an Independent.
I also bet there are a few Jet Blue guys who might have been a SCAB from another carrier or at least were never a UNION team player. We have a few of those at FDX. I bet CAL, UAL DAL and AA or even Air Tran who now has a union and is in contract talks. Don't place the entire pilot group under one umbrella for a few misfits or otherwise uninformed.
Wanting to unilaterally deny all Jet Blue folks jumpseats because of the opinions of a few JB pilots or because of JB's MGT is ludicrous, not to mention stupid, especailly if you are trying to breed UNITY.
You get more mileage letting that person ride your jumpseat and show him/her your contract and benefits, i.e brag a little or educate them. You will find they wake up pretty fast.
If the jumpseating individual from JB (or any other carrier for that matter) is on a certain Master list ......that is a different story and I would agree that person can find a ride home with someone else.
Remember A scab is a pilot who crossed a picket line to perform "Struck Work". CAL, UAL, EASTERN, NWA, Comair ATLAS/POLAR (and a few others) were properties where pilot struck BTW.
Do not punish a pilot for working at a non union company, because you just might find yourself doing just that someday.

Funny how the B6 pilot tune has changed now that expansion has stopped and contraction has set in. The Airbus' are going on the block and the EMB and the $72 an hour Captain rate is taking over. Well, you deserve it.
And quit whining about the lack of respect you get in the terminal. You earned that, too. You stabbed every Union pilot in the back thinking you could get ahead because Needleman promised you would get rich on B6 stock options. Well, you made your bed, now you get to sleep in it.
By the way, "We're just trying to feed our kids" is the first thing a scab says when he crosses a picket line. Funny you should have chosen that particular line as justification for butt*******ing Union pilots.

I'm by no means anti-union. Managements usually get the Unions they deserve and vice versa. But this willingness to throw the scab word around and be so disrespectful is just over the top.
Did any jetblue pilot bust your union shop? Did any of them cross your picketline? Blowhards who throw the word "scab" around so easily and act like it's a sin to be in a non-union shop deserve the higher blood pressure they end up with. What about non ALPA unions? Are they scabs? How bout alpa unions that sign concessionary contracts in the race to the bottom? Are they scabs? How bout regional alpa shops that "take flying away" from mainline carriers? Are they scabs? Or just worthy of less respect? If you tie professional respect to the quality of a contract or the consistency of union representation, you're not really all that professional, are you?
And - If you want to keep going - get your facts right. B6 sold what? 5 or 6 airbus? They're still taking deliveries. Nothing's on the chopping block.
Man, I hate to get in a ****ing match on these boards. It never does any good. But, get over yourself. Miserable people suck.

Nice to see the last four or five posters have common sense and understand the industry. For the ones before that, I'm sorry you live such a miserable existence. You dont hurt my feelings any with your "SCAB" BS, thats for sure. I'm previous ALPA (furloughed), Old man has 25 years with the ALPA pin. If I'm a SCAB for working at a non union carrier then so be it. Go ahead, deny me your jumpseat if it makes you feel like a man. I'll get home eventually. Your previous scab post are pretty pathetic and reminded me why I dont get on here that much. My children have better morals than you do. Get a life. I'm enjoying mine. For the rest of you, I tried to convey my understanding of the pilot fatigue studies. I dont know anything more than what I said in previous post. Didnt participate, and didnt care too. Thats all I know. C Yall in another six months.

Some of these chest beating pro union guys really need to lighten up on the KOOLAIDE. There is nothing wrong with working for any company as long as they are not taking the food out of the mouths of the wives and children of those who choose not to work. So how does JB fall into this chest beating? They didn't displace any employees. The lower pay is no secret to anyone. Give the BS a rest already.
As for the jump seat??? by a "Zed" ticket. It's a lot easier on the mind for the commute to work.

Main Entry: scab
Pronunciation: 'skab
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, of Scandinavian origin; akin to Old Swedish skabbr scab; akin to Old English sceabb scab, Latin scabere to scratch -- more at SHAVE
1 : scabies of domestic animals
2 : a crust of hardened blood and serum over a wound
3 a : a contemptible person b (1) : a worker who refuses to join a labor union (2) : a union member who refuses to strike or returns to work before a strike has ended (3) : a worker who accepts employment or replaces a union worker during a strike (4) : one who works for less than union wages or on nonunion terms
And just for all you who seem unable to read for comprehension what I said was the "I had to feed my kids" excuse is the first one the scab uses. If you drew any inferences from that, I suggest you reread the whole post slowly and without moving your lips.
