The point is the willingness to explore the possibilities. At least Parker MIGHT be able to actually run an airline.

If he can present a good business plan and develop a situation where everybody is better off, he can win. As it stands now, there is no real plan with exception of busting the unions and gutting the employees.

There has simply GOT to be something more inspiring then that.

In 2005 that exact sentiment kept me from turning my back on 19 years with PI/US and seeking two other opportunities.

Am I better off? I really can't say. The corporate job is now global and looking at a GIV. The ACMI operator is still around. But I have reclaimed my A320 Capt. seat with the worst contract in the US.

I understand where you are coming from. Just keep your eyes open, don't take Doug for his word and work with your brothers, east and west. ;-)

Despite false claims otherwise by a certain AA management person, most pilots at AA would be willing to sit down with Parker vs. AMR's term sheet annihilation.
Speak for yourself, I certainly wouldn't claim that most pilot share your sentiment! I certainly don't.

If there is anyway for Parker to merge and keep pilot wages low and the contracts as shi**y as possible- he will. He has had years to show an ounce of good will but has chosen not to do so with every single decision. Pilots = red ink- nothing more. They are not human, they are simply a number in the minus column.

Well, from my perspective you're in the extreme minority. The LINE pilots I come into contact with seem willing to explore what Parker has to say. Those on the fence probably won't be once the term sheet is imposed.

At that point, I'll bet there will be 16,000 ears here ready to listen. I think Parker will wait until it hits the fan here snd then make his move. An entire airline running on imposed draconian term sheets will produce very fertile ground.

Yep, his is the second worse labor track record out there, but all he has to do is beat the term sheets and come up with a better business plan.

The bar he has to clear is so low an ant could crawl over it.

I'll bet there's at least one entity out there unknown and biding their time. Again, I think once AA becomes an airline operating entirely on imposed draconian labor terms, it will be a hog's trough for many. That will create instability and will further weaken AMR's tenuous hold and quite possibly create a self-sustaining path to outside control.

Not flaming, but haven't the pilots inflicted their own wounds without any input from Mr Parker? Or is there something else to this story?

Another reason Parker is probably desperate for THIS merger. Aside from needing a merger itself, he needs to break the pilots logjam to oparate a single carrier instead of the two he currently does.
