The USAIR pilot group has lost so much money fighting over the list and it perhaps kept them out of their best merger opportunities. The damage way exceeds what accepting the list would have done especially when looking at the time value of money. The working conditions and pay of the East pilots are nothing but pitiful. Having said the above I suspect in the end if will all be for nothing. The merger with AMR will have a SLI based of the NIC list. It is the combined list at USAIR. They simply don't have a combined contract. USAPA should start looking at how best to integrate the Nic list with AMR and what their strategy should be to get the best deal they can. The East has boxed themselves into a corner where in the end they will get the worst of everything. Horrible contract for 10 years, bad deal on seniority ect.. They need a new thought process to figure out the next SLI with AMR. Any loses due to a poor SLI committee and process will be magnified by the NIC award.
