+1 +1 I resemble BOTH of those remarks! (except change 2000 to 1999). And yes tsquare it has a pension and medical which the guberment is trying to erode at every opportunity. Forgive me if I feel like I earned it. It is also what enabled me to scrape by on BOTH of my furloughs. Not whining by the way...just stating some facts.

I have to admit, I was very uncomfortable when they walked in...the vibe was palpable. I got introduced all around and as soon as I could, made my way to the door.

Not my bag baby.

Does anyone find it interesting that "earned" entitlements are on the chopping block, but "unearned" entitlements are not?

In fact, unearned entitlements are a growth industry.

Which is why the election in November is so vastly important to the survival of this country. Your observation is spot on.

I was absolutely disgusted when I read the post basically saying we should be ok with selling scope for a little bit of pay because he is only a couple years from retirement so he needs the couple extra bucks. I'm so glad so many of you responded in ways I could not quite articulate without going on a rant! Wow that was disgusting. At least I am pretty confident that is not the majority of our pilot group!

A couple extra bucks for selling scope would result in industry wide stagnation, meaning lower pay over time and worse QOL for ALL, but maybe the very very top. I would definitely vote no to the 12% (rumored overall increase by Jan 1) if it would mean everyone being stagnated even more in their careers. Of course this is all speculation so we will see what the actual contract says if it passes the MEC

Has anyone heard any rumors about the on-going MEC deliberations?

Scambo has kind of a bag man ring though... Maybe you should reconsider.

Except for the pilots furloughed that have had the five years surgically removed from the middle of their careers.

Let me put this a different way (to remove the military retiree part):

Are you better economically off on social security OR are you better off on welfare, wic, or disability.
