No one in their right mind was giving ValuJet a chance and now AirTran is operating fairly solidly and has been consistantly in the black.

The problem I see is that the only thing Southwest/Airtran and the likes have to bargain with is going to be pilot packages. If someone else will do the run for $65K/yr as captain and southwest FO's are making much more than that, captains making 3 times that amount, how soon do you think it will be that Southwest says to the boys and girls on the flight deck, sorry but we need to compete.

If you are not afraid of Skybus you're are not awake. Pilots taking these jobs need to be scutinized carefully. They are about to rip a major hole in what a lot of us call "the majors" payscales. You thought Mesa was bad....watch out.

Why would anyone be willing to fly A320 for 65K/per? Especially as a CAPTAIN. You make more money flying RJs and you get better benefits. I just can’t see the logic someone accepting the position.

You'll see Legacy Airlines dropping like flys, pilot suicide will be at an all time high and aircraft will simply start falling out of the sky because the kid at 7/11 got a .50 raise to fly an airbus instead of put the coffe on. No offense to my friends at 7/11. The Bottom is coming up quickly!

Indeed. Who would work for B6 or VX? But we've got "pilots" on this forum asking us to sign petitions to let Virgin fly.

They just don't get it.

Ask the people who were stuck imprisoned for 9 hours yesterday about B6's "customer service."

And the name "Skybus" really does say it all.

I would work for them...and am not afraid to say so, better yet I was the one who posted the link to sign the petition for VA.
It's easy for you to critized pilots for wanting to work for low wages but we have a higher responsability and that is to bring food to our families, not to you or anyother SCAB who thinks less of JB or future VA Skybus pilots for example. Am glad and happy for you that you work for a union airline and you are probably racking big buc's, but maybe for once try to see things in a different point of view, our point of view.
