Should be 71 additional openings. Plus any attrition between now and then, if there is any.

I thought I remembered a post or two on here addressing pay while in training, but a search of this thread yielded nada... Can anyone elaborate on any/all aspects of the initial training...duration, rough schedule, pay (per diem?), accommodations, uniforms, etc...really anything that comes to mind regarding the start at jetBlue.

No call or anything yet, just trying to get a handle on the budget, expenses, and life over the next few months/year.

Thanks

Training pay is 2500 per month gross until completion of IOE IIRC. (It may be until beginning of IOE; I don't have my PEA or FOM handy so someone who's been through more recently can correct me if incorrect). No perdiem paid on top of that. Line pay starts at reserve guarantee of 47/hr times 75 hours equals 3525 gross plus perdiem.

Single-occupancy hotel is provided by JB, 2.5-3 star level depending on which property we're currently using. Usually free breakfast type of place, in the Semoran boulevard cluster just north of MCO. Plenty of places to eat/booze in walking distance.

The initial uniform issuance is paid for by JB. Leather Coat, shoulderboards, 2-3 ties, 3-4 pairs each of pants/shirts, and the paintball style sweater if you so choose. The hotel and uniform deals are two of the better perks here versus most of the other majors/LCCs from what I understand.

I've been vocal about the deficiencies here but I found my newhire training to be quite low key. You will almost certainly be assigned to the 190 based on our vacancies which is the slightly easier jet to learn IMO. Footprint was quite reasonable, about 8 days of Indoc (Company rah-rah type stuff, learning the FOM a bit, how to use your laptop, etc), followed by Systems review, Procedures phase in the FTD, Maneuvers and Line-oriented phase in the sim. About 5.5 weeks start to finish with some random days off. Your bible for SKV (systems knowledge validation, AKA the oral) is the Lights and Switches guide. It will be on your laptop, which you should receive on day 1. We may still be issuing paper guides as well. Get into it early and often.

I hope all this helps. I actually quite enjoyed newhire training, the pace is not really hurried and we had a good group of guys and gals who liked to group study and socialize. Hope to be welcoming all you poolies aboard soon.

$2500/mo pay while in MCO, hotel is paid for (single occupancy), roughly 6.5weeks from day 1 to leaving the schoolhouse. After training you usually have a period of time (3 days to 2 weeks+) before you start your Initial Operating Experience, where you fly with a check airman and he teaches you how to operate the plane out in the real world. During this time you will need to have a crashpad set up in your base if you dont live there, so start looking for crashpads when you are nearing the end of sim training.

After your final sim checkride I believe you go on 70hrs flight pay per month, then youll probably be on reserve and move up to 75hrs when you finish IOE. Year 1 pay is $47/hr

Uniforms are completely paid for. 5 shirts, 2 pairs of pants, belt, 2 ties, leather jacket or blazer.

The training experience down in Orlando is a good one. Enjoy it, make friends with your classmates and instructors you come in contact with. It is a very relaxed atmosphere and everyone wants you to suceed.

Okay, so based on the first bid that triggered the 8/29 and 9/19 classes, there were 16 spots. Next bid had 15, and now the supplemental with 71. So, unless my addition is worse than usual, that's 102 FO slots between now and May of next year, right? That's going to nearly drain the pool. Including guys that moved on, if there are around 30 of them, that would clear it.

Should be getting close to my number in the November time frame, so I'm anxiously awaiting the call....

I hope somebody "in the know" can confirm that as I am much deeper in the pool.

Based on this latest bid, JB wants to have 2414 pilots, with all training completed, by May 1, 2013. There are currently 2329 pilots on the seniority list, NOT including those two classes that just recently started. So it looks like JB will hire 85 total, including the recent classes.

Hope this helps.

And... there will be another bid in December for June of '13 that hopefully will have additional vacancies. (Which we should expect, hopefully - if the total target hiring numbers for 2013 are to be believed.)

All training for those slots have to be COMPLETE by May 1.

Training for me was easy, pleasant, and completed in 5 weeks. Go from training pay of 2500 to 70*48.52 on your sim checkride date (at least that's how it worked for me).

Next system bid out in a few months, should have many more openings.

I think you meant 75*48.52 after the sim check ride. That extra $242.60 a month is essential.
