And for any poolies who are interested in healthcare costs, here is the jetblue healthcare guide for 2013:
Medical rates. – Dev | Life is Better in Blue |
Can the health care system in this country be ANY more complicated? This is totally ridiculous.

Pathetic. This is what happens when you don't have a CBA. Learn your lesson industry. Thank a dumb jetblue pilot next time you see him.

Our insurance is far better and cheaper than my wife's, unfortunately health care has become a joke both at JB and nationally. This discussion belongs on a different thread. Bottom line is JB is better than any regional. It will be interesting to see what happens with this supplemental bid. How junior will CA E190 Bos actually go? Please lets vent at another thread, let's be happy for the guys getting out of regional purgatory, and try and help answer any questions they may have.

Wow, we're better than any regional. That's awesome. |

You should see what my regional just put forth for their health care plan in bankruptcy. Makes the B6 health care (or even Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida) look awesome.
Trust me, we're well aware of what's going on over there. I can only speak for myself, but I'm willing to work to get things fixed once I'm there. But like someone else said, passing over a class date at jetBlue coming from a regional (especially one going down in flames) over health care is pretty short sighted. |

+1! Jet Blue is a step up for many people, especially given the regional volitilty that keeps rearing its ugly head! Best wishes to you, Kellwolf and other poolies! You seem like you'd be enjoyable to fly with, too bad for us you're leaving. But industry movement is great!
Here are the facts... Every other major airline, many regional airlines and most fractionals have better health care than JB. Some are much better. Our healthcare "benefits" have been whittled down to basically catastrophic insurance and the pilots have absolutely no say or negotiating power to change it. While the company has improved the retirement contribution we still lag behind industry average (which is where they said we would be). Remember Rob Maruster's video, "We fixed it!" (5+5+3=18). Retirement numbers are roughly 110 over the next 10 years. That's less than 5% of the seniority list over 10 years. Compare that with the other extreme of US East where 50% will be gone in 5 years, 85% in 10 years. Very few captains (of the 1200 or so that was previously quoted) will ever leave here until they are forced to by age or medical condition. Obviously this is my speculation. If you come here with little or no PIC turbine/jet you may very well be stuck for the rest of your career. Maybe not such a bad thing if this is really where you want to be. If you do come here, please consider our shortfalls. Inform yourself and please vote for the pilots to have the power to negotiate our compenstation package so that we can make things better for all our pilots. GP |
