Is the PIC requirement a thing of the past?

Sorry - I have no idea what point you are trying to get across
As far as your 'stories' of military pilots giving less resect to prior enlisted guys who are now flying......I suppose there might be a rouge out there somewhere with a chip on his/her shoulder. There is always some. I mean it isn't like there is a present/former enlisted person out who doesn't think poorly of an officer JUST because s/he is an officer right?

As my step father (an enlisted Navy Submariner) said to me, as I left for Officer School,
"I'd rather have a Sister in a Wh0re House than a Son as an Officer!"
As a life long civilian pilot, now a retired NW Capt. he had a very low opinion of Military Pilots, and Officers.
Then I became one.
So, when I got home from UPT, I told him what they told us at UPT; Air Force Pilots are the BEST, you have the Best Training, in the Best Jets! And You Damn Civilians are DANGEROUS!
(full disclosure, he started my flying lessons in the back seat of his Cub when I was 8. When I went to UPT, I had 4,500 hrs of Civilian time, they LOVED me...)
Both pipelines have Tools, your job is to 'see and avoid' them!

Well...that's a problem, one man's Tool is another man's Ace of the Base.
In my mind, the biggest tools are the ones who take themselves too seriously, and make the job too hard, 'just because'.
It's supposed to be fun, right? Isn't that why we got into flying? To have FUN! If you're not having fun flying jets around and getting paid to do it, you're doing it wrong.
Some guys just insist on making work out of it.
You done with the sports section?
;^)

Yep, seems to be the case. The Tool trait DOESN'T discriminate by background.
Some of the most humble, competent and fun people I've flown with were military. Some of them are also civilian.
Some of the biggest ego-centric tool boxes I've flown with were military. Some of them were civilian.
The latter (tool box variety), you don't ever need to ask them about their background, regardless of what it was. They'll just tell you, OVER AND OVER AGAIN. All though the trip. Often times right after you've got yourself situated in the plane, get all set up, get the FMS programmed and other pre-flight duties accomplished and before you even call for the first checklist to be run.
They'll also tell the FA's.

For me:
-I have no time for your attitude or drama
-I don't care how awesome you are or how awesome you think you are
-Its OK to laugh and smile in the airplane
-Last, if you are awesome, you don't need to brag, I will naturally do that for you after the trip

I apologize if I disrespected any military aviators with my comments. I was venting and went to far. I have nothing but the utmost respect for those that serve our country.
I just want a high time FO who is at the mercy of a seniority list to have that same type of "shot" at an interview, that is all.
Again, I apologize and am proud to call any ex-military pilot a fellow airline pilot.
Thank you for your service, and my freedom.
Cheers.
