Default $$$$ Boeing To Ramp Up 777 Production To 8.3

From Associated Press:

CHICAGO — Boeing said Tuesday that it has begun building its 777 jet at the highest rate that it’s ever made a big passenger jet, aiming to crank out more than eight planes per month.

Boeing has long said it would ramp up the pace of 777 production. It’s also speeding up its smaller 737 and it’s new, long-haul 787.

Boeing will build 8.3 of the 777s per month at its factory for large jets in Everett. Boeing said the increase is a jump of almost 20 percent over its previous rate of seven per month.

Boeing said it hired and trained hundreds of additional workers for the speedup.

The first plane to be built at the faster rate is a 777 freighter, with an expected delivery to Korean Air in February.

Boeing has a backlog for 335 of the planes, and it’s continuing to book new orders. List prices run from $258 million to $315 million, although discounts are common.

Probably because airlines want to convert their 787 options to 777s.

The 787 is showing the potential to become a very successful program for Boeing, either though they are both long haul A/C, the 787 is also demonstrating (the ANA, performance numbers in the domestic market, as well as the long haul market are pretty impressive) very good performance in medium and short haul flights, I think both the 787 and the 777 (specially the next gen 777's) will sell very well going forward.

Doing real good. I just hope the stock price rises as well.

They know they have no place to put that fantasy growth unless they start to get huge wins on cabotage foreign ownership.

Boeing is on the sugar rush high right now that will depend on the gutting of US aviation jobs just like US maritime jobs in order for that one politically embedded company to continue thriving at that level. There is little doubt they are also lobbying hard that we can't ever cut military spending (or even freeze it) or else we are all doomed, our babies won't be safe, Hitler will rise again or whatever other nonsense sells on any given day.

Its great to root for the home team, but rest assured that home team is doing everything they can to root and bet against you at every turn.

Why wouldn't they? Anything someone else adds becomes gifted capacity from the legacy carriers that immediately surrender it to preserve margins.
