Thanks!
Yes, got it back in 2008. I'm not sure about this latest round of hiring (Fall 2013), but the previous 2 windows (Spring 2011 and Fall 2012) - the 737 type was not weighed heavily for interview calls. I heard of many people who got called to interview without it. It seems like military and/or previous management (check airman, sim instructor, chief pilot) was a much bigger factor in getting an interview call. I have one friend who was called Fall 2012 who has almost identical times and resume that I do. The only difference is he was a check airman, sim instructor (no type) and I was not a check airman or sim instructor (with type). I've also heard that the type requirement may be removed at some point in the future. Don't bet the farm on it, but I was told from a reliable source that it was at least a realistic possibility. Hope this information helps in some way. I personally would not go out and purchase a type today if I didn't have one in anticipation of getting called to interview. Back when I got mine, it was believed that the Type was a major factor in getting an interview call. Nowadays, that doesn't seem to be the case. It probably still helps somewhat, but doesn't automatically short list you.

Spring of 11 was 200 "poolies" plus 110. Early 2012 was another 80. Recent three classes = 88. After the poolies = 268 including 1/2/2014 class

Thanks for the info!

Just personal experience here, but everyone I know called for this round of hiring has had the type. All from Higher Power, too.

Everyone in training right now has the type, all 88 of us. Higher Power has the most in training, but there's also folks that got the type with CPT. Maybe someone got hired without the type, but I doubt they'd start training without getting their type rating.

I got the call to interview. Higher Power, 737 type.

Man, that is awesome and better yet for the guys hired in 2011-12 that may see some movement after all. Knock 'em dead in the interview, guys!

I've read a few posts of people speculating 15-20 year upgrades at SWA. Is there actually any data to support this? I have not been able to find a list of mandatory retirements at SWA like many of the other airlines have posted on their profiles. I know that growth and attrition are speculative, but mandatory retirements are black and white.

Also, will a January interview mean a February decision board? Is there already a date set for Feb DB?

Thanks!

Friend got the call today and should be junior to me by over 100 #'s when he arrives late this month or early February. Good news for all involved.
