Default Bizjet experience vs Regional experience?

Howdy all,

I've been reading these posts for months. I'm a former CRJ FO and retired military helo guy looking to get back into the airline world. In order to get some recency of experience, I'm weighing the pros and cons of a bizjet job vs going back to another regional.

The big question in my mind is how do the majors (in general) view bizjet experience vs regional experience? In my case, I've already got 3 years (1500+hrs) of CRJ time, but its been 10 years since I flew airplanes. Would two more years of 121 FO time look better to the majors than two years of bizjet time?

I guess what the question boils down to is do the majors look down upon bizjet experience vs regional experience?

Thanks for fielding this question.

I think you'll find that 121 time is almost always favored by other 121 carriers. As I recall in the WAI Delta brief they had a slide something to the effect of "who do we typically hire...." and the answer was former military pilots and Part 121 pilots. I suspect this is true for most airlines if you look at who's getting hired.

Thanks CODs4ever,

That confirms what I suspected, so I'm applying to the regionals. I appreciate the post.

Default Who's been hired?

Quick question about degrees....does having a master's degree help significantly or is it viewed in similar light to having a 4 year degree? How about a PhD?
