I'll try.
AF has announced a few plans for reductions
- Early retirement, with at least 15 years service you could retire, vs the normal 20
- Voluntary sep (VSP), waive a variety of service commitments and pay you severance to leave early if you volunteer
- RIF, non-voluntary sep, waive commitments and pay you less than if you vol'd. Occurs after first two programs run their course
About two weeks ago, AF approved a bunch of early retirements. Still no answers on the second.
Bottom line, at this point, there are now a few more people entering the job market (maybe 100s, not even close to thousands). If they approve VSP, that'd be more. How many? No idea.

Interviews with US Airways and American.
I was hired by US Airways and then declined the American interview.
7300 TT
5700 PIC
4600 TPIC
2 Types
2 Degrees
Former CKA
Former Asst. Chief Pilot
2 Internals at Airways and 1 at American
Clean PRIA and FAA records

Interesting strategy. You must believe that your seniority at Airways would be better than what you would get at AAL... or am I missing something?

Bottom line is no one knows yet, so it's not accurate to make a definitive statement like it "will be" DOH.

Will be? Nothing is set in stone. No matter what past precedent you look at, you cannot guarantee anything at this point. This merger will be interesting when you have three (arguably four) separate pilot groups to merge. Although it sounds like newhires since merger date have gone DOH in the past, one could also argue that AA hired much less and then get slotted in with US guys hired since merger date.

Agreed. Bird in hand vs two in a bush.
