Today the Delta MEC elected Mike Donatelli as MEC chairman. His term begins immediately.

Good move, I think.

OK... so what are his credentials? How does he come down on things politically? Will Carl be pleased... strike that. Is he a Moakist/apologist/cheerleader?

Do you know his background and union experience?

How'd the vote go down?

rsor,

A little. He has experience with the SPC, which might come in handy. I think he was Chairman for DAL and National. I'm not personally aware of his other past union functions, but I've met him couple times during BK. He seems to be trade unionist, and have his heart in the right place. I like the guy. Smart, and assertive. I think he's from Chicago, and I'd enjoy being in the room if Carl wanted to start a cliche rant on Chicago-style politics with him.

Donatello is a Chicago boy. Hardcore union democrat. C2k strike committee chairman and Rottweiler. Politically connected, he and his wife, iirc, she was short listed, more or less, to be zero's transportation secretary???

I disagree with his left wing politics, but think very highly of him as a union guy.

I'd put my money on the same guys that never want to be caught actually being FOR anything, staying true to form.

Some background information from 12 years ago:

Preparing for a Strike

Capt. Donatelli currently works in DPN.

I do not know Capt. Donatelli, but I trust my Reps have made a wise choice. He has my support.

Mike was a pit bull as Strike Commitee chairman during C2K. He's a hard-core unionist with fire in his belly. We couldn't have a better guy in this job.
