Some pilots dislike ALPA. Some pilot dislike unions period. Some pilots have always wanted to believe JetBlue management was different than their previous carrier management or typical airline management.

ALPA will cap my pay...
Dave will leave...
They'll sell the company...
Managment has our best interest in mind...
They'll take away premium pay...
ALPA will furlough me...
Jetblue has a no furlough clause... (Haha just threw up in my mouth)
My pea will pay me 70hrs/mo until I retire if I lose my job...
Mcbond applies to me...
Jetblue can't take anything away...
I get to talk to my chief pilot and he likes me...
The open door policy works... (As long as you don't use it and follow the chain of command. Other wise you'll be asked to visit the cpo by yourself and if you bring your lawyer you'll be terminated.)
I'm sure there's more, but my Christmas sugar high is wearing off and it's time for a nap so I can wake up and make beers!
Merry Christmas dudes!

Wonder what happens if you call in sick on a trip out of base. According to the new dependability policy, they'll DH you back to base. But if you can't use flight privileges, how can they book in in myIDTravel? This is another policy written to keep gate agents and rampers stuck somewhere from calling in sick to stay gone a few more days (or FAs that post pics of themselves on the beach on Facebook on a day they called in) from abusing the system that just got rubber stamped to EVERY employee.

As we look at the looming Union Drive I can't help but see the writing on the wall as a result if the short comings of the upper levels of this company's approach to the DR. It's really a shame that this great experiment has utterly failed. The sad part is that Delta has manage to maintain a DR with their flight attendants for all these years. PSIA +/- 1% for total compensation and not treating the pilots like non carreer employees (i.e. AO, GO, inflight)would have kept us union free and maintained the phenomenal culture that started this company. It's really a shame, yet completely necessary at this point. O well, ALPA here we come.

The company has to cost out everything the pilots negotiate, and apply it on some level to the flight attendants. And, as we saw in the last contract, ALPA gave away a significant amount of our profit sharing--down to the non-union level...in return for very modest pay improvements which were in turn offset by major productivity concessions. A joke, really.
ALPA is better than no union...but the non-union work groups will mooch off of your dues dollars, and the company will do everything it can to drive a wedge between union pilots and everyone else.
