I am posting this here to get the most exposer in the least amount of time as I want to register by Thursday this week.

I am going to pull the trigger this week on scheduling my 737 type rating. I am using the 9/11 GI bill so that is a big deciding factor. Also I am UNABLE to give my GI bill to anyone so I am going to use it on the type rating. I was hoping to get some quick opinions on where to go. I think I am leaning toward HPA but I haven't firmed any plan up yet. Here are the places I have on the list. I would welcome any input or even additions of places I should check out.

-Higher Power (they seem to have the process pretty cut and dry even down to the VA paperwork. Also it doesn't seem to be an issue that I am going without finding my own sim partner)

-Crew Pilot Training (their website sucks and there is now phone number listed to talk to anyone. This gives me a bad feeling that this may be the way training is)

-K and S Aviation (seem like nice folks just know real info on them)

-PanAm Academy ( I have found good reviews and horrible reviews but nothing current)

So before I plunk down my deposit check what do you guys/girls think?

 

I can't speak for the others, but can guarantee you won't be disappointed with Higher Power. I went there 5+ years ago (not on GI Bill) and could not have asked for a better experience.

 

Stay away from K&S.. While you will end up with a 737 type, they have horrible customer service and very poor communication.

Finished rating with HPA last week. Go to HPA, thoroughly recommend them. Call Gail

Higher Power and Pan Am both good schools for the Boeing rating.

You may want to look into using the funds to get a rating in a corporate jet rather than the Boeing. Corporate world is opening up as their pilots are migrating to the scheduled carriers. Besides, US Carriers with the exception of Southwest will type you.

 

Plus there is always the chance you'll be questioned in an interview "so, what's with the 737 type? You planning on getting some experience and leaving for Southwest?"

 

If you do it, HPA is the way. Great experience with the long-term benefit of super contacts.

 

I have no problem with that one. 1) the type was free to me 2) most airlines now fly the 737 not like 15 years ago. Is Delta afraid I'm going to run off to SW if they hire me? I doubt it. 3) I wanted to prove to myself that I could pass airline style training rather than just going and getting my ATP in a light twin.
