[QUOTE=orvil;1838744]We lived in Madison. We had a gentleman's farm (meaning it wouldn't pay for itself) outside of Madison. I had to give myself an hour and a half to sign in. There are no bail out routes on I-20 east of 285. But, I never had a serious problem. The quality of life is outstanding. Athens is 20 minutes up the road with all the amenities that a college town offers. Lake Oconee is nice, very quiet, lots of snowbird retirees second homes. It's quite a haul.
Thanks Orvil,
We are heading up end of month to look at properties in Covington and just off Lake Oconee. The drive concerns me. We are also looking at Newnan, Lake Redwine property - but the battery only boat thing pushes us away. Three kids still in the house so schools and not living in the "booneys" for extracurricular activities important for 8 more years! Thanks for the insight.

Great thread! Currently looking hard at area S of Fayetteville (Whitewater HS) and SE of PTC (Starrs Mill HS). Mix of older homes (>20 yrs) and new construction (<5 yrs) and all with Fayetteville addresses. We liked the semi-rural feel and proximity to PTC shopping. Anything we're missing since I haven't heard much about either area on this forum?

Be aware of Peachtree City Syndrome (PCS). PCS affects most of the Delta captains living in Peachtree City. Its characterized by claims of the best house, best school, smartest kids, best athletics, and hottest wives. PCS sufferers are also known to drive their golf carts to neighborhood Delta parties where they hang with other Delta pilots to talk about Delta stuff while comparing houses, kids, wives, etc. There is no known cure. Good luck.

Hi
Just finished my exhaustive home search in that area. Newnan and PTC can have some traffic but it's usually a rush hour thing and not too bad. Peach tree city homes were all fix er up ers, so we stayed away from that. New construction around Tyrone and Northgate preserves were really nice. We had an amazing real estate agent who's also a delta FA help us. AMAZING. Showed us over 28 homes in 2 1/2 days and gave us a good feel of the area. Highly recommend if anyone wants to PM me. Good luck in your search. Lots of variety out there for sure. Fly2002

Hey! Enough bad about PTC. At least when you take your golf cart in for repair you can have your Stepford wife "re-chipped" at the same facility. At least I've heard. PTC is very well zoned and planned. Otherwise its about the same as any place else. Some of us even have run down houses, spouse issues and loser kids! Best Wishes in your house hunt and welcome to the Big D. OFG

Thanks for all the great info here. I did a cursory search and couldn't find where exactly the employee lot is. Do you guys know where ATL's employee lot is? Would it be different for different airlines? I'm trying to find it on a map so I can plot door to lot.

on Google maps on your phone just put in delta employee parking lot. It knows where it is. Behind race track gas station on camp creek parkway.
