I'm not sure why people rake PTC over the coals. I've lived here 10+ years and I never see co workers and really didn't care if I did. (Why all the anti social behavior?)

If you are young and single, stay away....you'll be bored by the lack of "action"

But if you're looking for a good safe place to raise kids and tool around on a golf cart to go to out to restaurants, concerts, and the dry cleaners. You might like it.

It's just not cool because there isn't that "excitement" of wondering if you might get robbed at any minute.

We lived in Madison. We had a gentleman's farm (meaning it wouldn't pay for itself) outside of Madison. Morgan County is a premier destination with Madison being a slice of historic Americana. It does enjoy a price premium over the surrounding counties. I had to give myself an hour and a half to sign in. There are no bail out routes on I-20 east of 285. But, I never had a serious problem. The quality of life is outstanding. Athens is 20 minutes up the road with all the amenities that a college town offers. Lake Oconee is nice, very quiet, lots of snowbird retirees second homes. It's quite a haul. Prices are high, but not as high as Lake Lanier, nor is it as crowded.

If not for DAL's bankruptcy, we would still be in Madison. We moved to Newnan. It still retains it's own identity from Atlanta. In Newnan, you can do historic in town living, Lake Redwine for suburban lake living, or if you want a horse or cow, there's lots of undeveloped land. If golf is your thing, a Cannongate golf club membership allows you to play at a bunch of different member courses. It's a good deal. I shoot skeet and sporting clays, I have four different places to shoot in a 30 minute drive.

If you are single, go downtown.

Driving to work, there is I-85, US 29 and GA70 to the parking lot. If there is an accident, you can bail out to one of the three. Newnan is ideally located for green slip access, too. If that's your thing. It's easy to sit reserve.

I'm on Lake Redwine and inherited a Beretta Golden Snipe over/under 20ga that I'd like to learn how to shoot clays with... could you pm/post what the above places are? Thx.

Both are closer to you in Lake Redwine than me in downtown Newnan. It will take you 15 minutes to either one.

Tom Lowe for skeet, trap, 5 stand and lessons. It's the old Olympic venue and open to the public. No membership required.

The other is Foxhall Sporting Club. They have a shooting only membership which is very reasonably priced. Really nice place. I can't believe they let me in. The facilities include wobble stand, two five stands (one covered), sporting clays, skeet and second sporting clay course coming soon, plus hunting. They also offer lessons. They have an unusual course because of the elevation changes. This can make the course more challenging. Most courses tend to be flat.

Big Red Oak is 35 minutes south. They have 5 stand, sporting clays and hunting. Don't know about lessons.

Funny thing, been in Newnan 8yrs and never heard of Gay until I finished my basement recently. Found an awesome 100yo piece of lumber for the bar top from Vintage lumber in Gay. The bar turned out great!
