Flew one for a couple of years, a '49 170A...great plane. Owners had a 182 on straight floats & never flew the 170, advertised on craigslist of all places to form an informal flying club. Ended up being like having my own plane. Was bummed when they sold it.

Nice looking C-47!!! For the past couple of years I've been involved with the Flagship Detroit Foundation flying the oldest DC-3 still flying. She is number 45 off the line and was delivered to AA in 1937. The Detroit has Wright 1820s which is what was fitted on the first DC-3s. We attend various airshows and sell memberships to the foundation. The memberships allow foundation members to fly with us for a year and we do membership flights at the airshows we attend. Members are also able to fly with us as we move about the country.

yeah, had some sort of mechanical ... and my response ... WHO CARES!
Be careful. Buy insurance. It is old. Things will break. Just fix it.
JungleBus, 727C47, YakFlyer; have my appreciation, admiration and respect. Thanks for keeping these airplanes flying for those of us who really enjoy them.

I'd like to have one of my own one these days but there are two things I'd change. First off I'd replace the rear oleo strut with the spring kit. It seems that we were always looking for a refill on that tail wheel strut. The spring kit eliminates that issue. The other thing about the 195 was the electric flaps were always getting messed up. Either they'd not work at all or sometimes one would partially come down. It's not like you really need the little buggers anyway they don't do much, but I'd be sure and have them sorted out properly if I ever had a 195 again.

I had a 1955 C-170B for several years. Great airplane! I bought it when I was stationed up in Alaska at Elmendorf and then flew it down to Beale AFB in California when I joined the U-2 program. The trip down was a lot of fun camping out along the way. Sure wish I hadn't sold it.

Hopefully, I'll get mine back in the air soon. I have a '47 8E.

Alaska Wing CAF BT-13 ... with Denali in the background. Taken from the CAF Harvard 4 (which is for sell, by the way, let me know if you are interested!).
Sorry I couldn't figure out how to make the picture smaller ... If you have that know-how, please pm me.

I'll bet! Took a couple weeks for schedule and weather to come together to get my Pacer from Kalispell to Minneapolis. Long flights in the winter in VFR-only airplanes can be tough. I lucked out but had a good stretch of rather marginal VFR in eastern Montana...good thing there's lots of Class G out there! Where are you picking up the Luscombe and where will it be based?
