Default SWA Hires

Hey guys, I was just wondering does SWA prefer to hire 121 and military guys, or do they like 135 and 91 guys the same if they have Jet PIC?

Southwest prefers to hire those who treat others well, and are able to relate that quality to the interviewers without coming accross as either arrogant or untruthful. If you know how to tell them how great you are, you will do well. No, they didn't hire me. Yes, I'm slighly biter. No, I don't hold it against them. Yes, they make mistakes. No, you can't predict who they will hire.

Any questions?

Skybolt, good reply. Yes, sometimes mistakes are made. You should give it another try. Southwest hires good attitudes from all backrounds.

second that...swa will hire you (interview anyways) as long as you meet the qualifications, both military and civilian. It is very very difficult to get hired now adays but please do not be discouraged.

doesn't matter where you came from it is where you are going.....

Actually, I know when there were enough ex-military that Southwest "Loved" ex-military guys and would still prefer them if there were enough floating around - ask the guys that have been there 5+ years and you will find a high percentage of ex-military. Now, since there aren't enough qualified ex-military to hire they will look elsewhere. Delta (when I got hired there in 2000) had very high (over 80%) ex-military composition.

I would say majority of SWA pilots are xmilitary, however, I have flown with many civilian as well. Southwest Airlines knows that almost anyone can fly an airplane, so they look for people who want to be a part of the SWA FAMILY!!!!! I have seen new hires recently from Delta among other airlines........my suggestion, when you interview, dress to impress! BE yourself! And have fun, they love fun people! I know a guy who wrote a poem about how badly he wanted a job at SWA and was sent to training after only one interview!!!!
