Counter move, deals done by email?

It could still be overturned by a supervisor or payroll, and by the time it is all sorted out that day off you negotiated for has passed and it becomes a moot point.

In a CBA there will most certainly be gray areas, and those will eventually turn into grievances filed by ALPA to get resolved by an arbitrator. Neither side (ALPA or the company) wants to see the other one exploit those gray areas.

Nope, you got it wrong. Look how they do it at Spirit. And don't tell me they are not ALPA strong.
What if they call me with something outside the CBA, and I ask more then what I would get with a grievance AND for an extra day off?
The guy just taking the flight and grieving it later is shafting me.
I am just raising the bar.
I don't know what the CBA will have, but hopefully we will have the option to refuse or cut extra deals, without repercussion

1. Just how do they do it at spirit?

2. what if someone junior to you cuts a deal to fly the same trip at half price. You good with that?

Yes, totally new to RLA. But believe me, they would not use my deals for any data against a grievance, because I would either ask way more or refuse the flight.

Doesn't matter if you negotiate something better. Only thing that matters is you are going outside the contract. Noncompliance.

1) yes, I think?
2) nope..that is the opposite of what I said. I would ask for more than what you might think it's good for me

That is the opposite of the scheduler trying to impose something outside the contract.

Flyby, I know you always help in here, but now you are getting me worry. I was hoping for a crystal clear CBA. and yes maybe a clause to refuse or negotiate extra pay and days off in some cases.

I think he's saying that there isn't a CBA on the planet that doesn't have a ton of gray areas. The intention might be to have crystal clear text but then under some unusual conditions it's gray.

If it's black and white then under the RLA you can refuse but otherwise it's "Fly now and grieve later"

You said "like they do it at Spirit", I asked how do they do it at Spirit? So I don't understand your response. Anyway, once you have a CBA, you can be sure you will have a clause like :

The Company shall not solicit nor accept offers from pilots to violate
contractual limitations. The Company shall not enter into arrangements with
individual pilots that violate the Agreement*
