KLM has a similar program. The applicant undergoes an extensive selection process. Successful applicants are provided wit KLM Approved pilot training centers. However, I believe, the student pays for their basic training. They have to demonstrate a minimum level of performance before commencing training with KLM. Oxford Aviation provides training for zero to heroes too. However FR, EZJet, require an assessment prior to being accepted into their training at the expense of the trainee. Asian and ME carriers are following suit. That said Jetdriver where is the merit in your statement? |
About a year after this program starts, they will say they couldn't find any US candidates for the program. They will then start importing workers from abroad.

Here, I said it... Wow, you want to negotiate your own cba with a scheduler? First time union member? |
Endgame...what happens in 2020? Let's see...that is the beginning of the mass retirement decade at all the majors. JB is starting this ab initio strictly for their own benefit. These "candidates" will receive a loan package from JB that will indenture them to JetBlue for years. Here's how it will play out: JB will "award" these candidates loans and assign them to XYZ Academy. XYZ will be very expensive but they will be training the "best". Later as instructors at XYZ they will be paid minimum wage and defer these large loans that will continue to accrue interest. After 4 years they will be hired at JB and begin paying back the loans through payroll deduction (BA currently has a 7 year payback for their Ab initio program). JB will "subsidize" these loans thus, if they are broken or paid back early the fiscal penalty will be severe. Cheap labor that is not mobile with a machine in place to continue output. CHECKMATE!

I am saying that once a rule is in place (FSM or CBA) I don't want it to be violated by a scheduler with the only hope of few bucks next year. I want the option to bargain my way in or out of it. That is the way is done in many other places. Why you prefer to negotiate for me? And get me what? Money? What about my time? What if I don't like what you settle for? |

Nope, you missed completely the point. But that's ok.

You want to shaft your fellow pilots by making side deals outside the CBA. You need a little ALPA 101. Your CBA will probably have a clause prohibiting you from making deals, and it should. |
