I hope that is a joke if not mind your own business.
Spirit hired guys with 250hr just few years ago and I heard they were the cockiest less prepared pilot to ever fly for an airline. A pain in the rear to work with them.

Can we now focus on the Fly Now Grieve Later, horrible policy?
If we allow that we are too weak. And few bucks months and months form now will not compensate for the time lost.
Am I really the only one concern with that?
What do you suggest the union do? We don't have a contract yet.

We are the union. And I am just afraid Fly Now Grieve Later will be our policy even after a CBA. The word grieve can easily refer to a contract dispute, even more than to a PA.
I suggest we have the option to negotiate extra pay and/or days off on the spot, or just say no. This is how they do it in many other places. If the company disputes it, and if we are found wrong, we pay the consequences. Innocent until proven guilty.
But be forced to fly is more like in a regional. It's weak in our part.

This won't produce the first gateway 7 pilot until 2020. Keep in mind the industry is going to be a lot different at that time. Any current Jetblue pilot will be at a major if they choose to go. I know a lot of people are happy at JB and aren't planning to leave. But there's a percentage of the pilot group that would jump. Most regionals at that time will have guys on a flow path, so this only makes sense.

The reason it is fly now grieve later is we don't have any legally enforceable contract. If you don't fly it can be said you are being insubordinate and fired. The PEA is not enforceable and barely has any language in it anyway. Many pilots haven't even signed one. The many other places you're referring to most likely aren't negotiating their first contract.

I agree the landscape will change but I can't see where your going.

since we now have a program with xjt to bring guys on I really don't see the line your drawing? this makes no sense.

Hire guys with thousands of hours of experience...

hire guys who have a couple hundred flying a box with no repercussions...

I quit flight instructing for a reason.

I agree, as a one time disgruntled applicant, it's a slap in the face of those who tried but never heard a thing from JB....Apparently guys like me couldn't get an invite to an open house a few years ago, ( with the usual thousands of hours, jet time, PiC, no skeletons etc)But zero to hero pilots will be walking onto your "campus" soon....to learn to fly
