I'd recommend carrying a bottle of chianti and a can of fava beans...

...you never know if you're gonna have to eat someone.

Too much stuff to keep in your bag. FedEx it between layover hotels. Two go bags is actually better because of FedEx shipping time. Ship bag #1 to first layover. Bag #2 goes to second city. Leaving the first layover city you ship it to city #3.
There are probably people out there that do something pretty close to that...
