Is it the original National certificate, the airline based out of MIA?

Finish the story.........then.......ATA lost the suit on appeal. Suit dismissed with prejudice.

No, it's NOT the original certificate out of MIA. Please try not to associate Murray Air of YIP with the original National. The original was probably the best airline ever. That includes financially, morally and ethically. Bud Maytag was a genius. Books have been written about this and there is a great youtube video on the original National.

The new National is in name only and I am glad they are not using the Sun King logo like Southeast did albeit slighly different. Have you seen the pay, have you read the terms and conditions at the new so called "National"! ITS ABSOLUTE RUBBISH! They won't last six months in ISP. They are one of the last bottom feeders in the industry.

So, No, they are NOT anything, nor will they ever be, like the original National.

Rant over.

Pulled this from airliners.net. Take it for what it is worth.

As part of a regulatory filing with the DOT to amend its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (the airlines economic authority), the carrier says that in additional to previously announced Puerto Rico services from Islip NY, it also plans to commence service to London UK this year.

Per the filing the carrier says it anticipates offering service to London Luton 3x weekly utilizing B757 equipment "this summer" from Islip.

Another tidbit in the document is that National plans to enter into lease with Miami Air for a single 737-800 aircraft to provide supplemental passenger capacity beyond current 757 fleet for its existing and planned Florida and Caribbean routes this year as well.

Reminds me of the late 1980s when small obscure airlines would operate random routes.

Also if anyone is curious about their financial standing, per DOT filing they have about $20.3mil in cash or other more liquid assets with total outstanding liabilities amounting to $380.3mil. Good luck...

National should have been shut down after the Bagram fiasco.

It wasn't all SWA's fault, like Sun Country 1.0 , ATA tried to fly with the big birds and couldn't hang, it was a shame , they were the king of the non scheds and if they had stayed in their niche they would probably ( hopefully)be here today. Blaming SWA and Fedex is like blaming Delta for Pan Am's demise ,the seeds that led to their destruction were sown long before.

It’s exactly what it looks like. At a time when fuel trades at historic lows and virtually no operator isn’t hiring. If I told you I knew principals in a one bird certificate negotiating leases for direct service on long thin routes no one else offers, would you believe me? This chit never ends. Doesn’t fit the thread category in any event.
