I knew the pay, working conditions and benefits before I left the military to fly for a major airline. Then they changed all that.

Has pay, benefits and work rules even been announced?

I signed the letter, but if this thing goes through... what's the saying? If you can't beat 'em....

Pay is something like 8k a month for Capt. You must pay up front 30k for training, paid back to you at 10k per year. I would expect short turnaround layovers at sketchy hotels and time spent in the bunk to not count towards flight duty limits. So probably plan on working 20 days a month or so for that 8k. No per diem. Join em? No thanks...

Still probably better than working at a regional.

Couldn't agree with you more. But this is not just an Alpa adgenda. Every pilot Alpa or not will be affected by this. By signing it you're not supporting Alpa but rather your own industry. If majors loose flying so will regionals. What's that saying, $hit rolls downhill.

Just saying that going into any profession you probably have a good idea what the pay and benefits are and what you hope to attain...if its not to your expectations you either move on or figure out how to deal with it.

These are some of the things I've heard in the last several years: Welcome to the job for the rest of your life, You will be a Captain in 5 years...good news there will be no seasonal furloughs... your commitment out of pilot training is 4 years...you will make Captain in 3 years...don't worry they tried to merge with us before, it didn't happen then it won't happen now...we are going to give you a 12000 year raise but shutting down NY as a base... sorry we can't offer you the new hire slot on Monday our attorneys said we can only hire LPP pilots...you have to turn in your wings and hat emblem before you get your last paycheck...don't worry your retirement is secure...there is no way they will raise the age limit...the new contract will have the pilots pay scale up to Delta and than surpass it in 5 years...they can't move you from FO to SO out of seniority...there is no way they will get a B scale...US Air will be gone in a week...United will be gone by the months end...hired not aquired.

6 airlines later, its not only the regionals, and like someone else said, I knew what the pay and work conditions were and they changed them. Hopfully you got into this job for more than the money, because if not you will be in for disappointment. Yes the pilots should always be working for better safety, pay and work conditions.

So a U.S. pilot won't even be considered?
Keep the "change".

Great. Fly a 787 for less than some RJ Captains make here.
