Which ULCC?

Spirit will surely get a new contract eventually. And the pay will certainly be better at Spirit. The pay difference now is not consequential for your beginning time frame there. If you enjoy living nearly half of your life in hotels or are indifferent, then go to spirit.

These are all personal circumstances. I worked a pretty robust schedule for last month, and spent quality time with family and friends on all the holidays. And not one night in a hotel.

Agreed, definitely not typical but nice to be able to have the flexibility. Though, I dont think our red/green is as "GREEN" in other bases

I've never heard anyone say that before but if you enjoy being away then I wouldn't go to G4. I did the math once and I would spend about an additional 60,000 hours on the road for the rest of my career if I left for legacy. As far as the blocks of days off, my record is 15 days off in a row on a 20 day off month without vacation and I could space blocks or 5-6 off if I wanted every month. However, you could never do that on the MD80 though in some of our bases like Vegas where almost everybody has Tues, Wed, Sat off. If you're not junior and in an airbus base with high time trips 7 days a week you can make the blocks happen. I wouldn't recommend commuting here because when you're junior you can't setup large blocks of days off and some equipment/bases you can't get blocks even if you're senior.

You do know that legacies fly turns also. The nice thing is that you have a wide variety of types of flying at a legacy. Want to fly turns, live in base and stay senior. Get bored and switch to Europe. Tired of that go to the Orient. Tired of that then go back to turns and sleep at home.

I've looked into that but turns go senior at legacy and it typically takes 15-20+ years to reach all day trips as an FO in the desirable bases, such as ATL or SLC at DAL, MIA or CLT at AAL or DEN at UAL. I'd be lucky to get 5 years in with day trips as a CA in those bases with a 30 year career at the cost of sitting decades of hard time in the hotel.

I'm not sure how you can say the entire UAL list is gone in 20-25 years, I've got over 20 years left and there's A LOT of guys on the Delta and United seniority who are younger than I am. 35-40 years is probably a better time frame.
