Retirement comparisons- DAL vs. NWA
#21
Soup, For what it's worth, the only wise financial decision I ever made was staying in the ANG for the retirement. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, and I got that one right. Luckily, the unit was in MEM where i've been based, and my wife supported it. If all these ducks get in a row, I get to retire, if not my kids get no inheritance and the new hires hate on my grave. Ain't nothin but a thng.

I'm starting to get a bad feeling here. Why would no 1989 or 1990 NWA hires want to compare their frozen DB to my PBGC benefit? Is it really that much more than my $2,700/month? Come on- I can take it!

I don't believe that you are far off, the penalty under 25 years vesting are not linear. I had 19 years at termination. I would guess the number was 3800-4500 frozen. Is not the PBGC benefit updated occasionally for inflation?

Soup, they are not answering because they have already retired. Didn't they all jump ship just before DCC?
PS it's a joke fellas. That 1000 will retire prediction will live on forever in the Doofer book.

Absolutely-freaking not- which I'm still trying to get my head around. As little as $2,700/month is now, imagine what a joke it will be in the year 2020.
Hey, but with my bankruptcy Note money decreasing at the rate of negative 30% or so per year, I guess the PBGC beer-money is the least of my worries, yes?

...and STILL waiting for any 1989 or 1990 NWA hires to post what their frozen DB monthly amount is...
