We have SAP at Mesa. But we don’t any enough pilots so it’s a useless exercise.

I realize SAP doesn't do anything for you if you're on reserve - but even if you're near the bottom of the list (but off reserve), this helps tremendously. There are so many little things they could do if they weren't so hostile toward their pilots.

Little things that would make a world of difference.

Like severely limiting the endless ready-reserve (as you mentioned). I've been around this industry for quite awhile. I have never, never, never seen such a pathetic contract pass.

Nor have I ever seen a union endorse such a ridiculous TA. It's almost as if they were TRYING to make pilots choose another regional.

I have used it a couple of times to swap uncommutable 4 days for commutable 4 days. That is about the only use I have ever found for it.

This company and our MEC is a JOKE. Our contract is embarrassing. A lot of our hotels should be illegal..RIC, ICT, DSM to name a couple.

We can’t talk as long as we stay at motel 6 and red roof inn when commuting in or sitting reserve in dfw.

Ever consider volunteering? If more complained about hotels using the proper channels, then it will change.

YES! Stop complaining and go out volunteer for the union and do it yourself. I’m strongly considering getting involved with the union especially with the hotel stuff.

I know a person on the hotel committee. They say it is a sham.

Same thing I've heard.

And for the post telling us to stop complaining and start volunteering, that's not always a good idea. I've known many coworkers who did the same thing and came away a lot more jaded than they were before they 'stopped complaining and started volunteering.' Sometimes seeing the sausage being made isn't the best remedy if you're naive enough to think you'll make a difference. Not to say your heart isn't in the right place - I'm sure it is - but the deck is usually stacked against anyone who thinks they can 'fix' the mess our predecessors have made.

My opinion here, but most (if not all) of this comes from the top. We work for a CEO who has turned screwing pilots into a sport. The MEC loves to talk tough, but everyone knows JO owns them on issues that really matter. JO might think he's winning, but when you need 20 new captains and only 2 show up, maybe it's a case of winning the battle, but losing the war. His 'screw the pilots' attitude will eventually come back to bite him. In fact, we might be seeing this now.

One can only hope.

I am not sure I want it to bite JO, because whatever bites him bites the Mesa employees.

As far as bad hotels, numbers are everything. All 4 crewmembers need to submit a complaint, not just one. That gets the complaint percentages up and increases the possibility that a hotel is looked at.

There is a solution to these problems.
