You will probably credit 85-95 a month so that’s 850-950 a month more. Nearly 10,000 a year.

A 737 type rating is obtainable at Mesa and the 73 is no longer senior. Aviate is no joke.
Training could be another consideration:
-better training Mesa or Skywest?
-AQP/ no AQP?
-training delays - sims / IOE?

Don’t worry though, the extra $760 minimum straight cash number Boy Wonder pulled directly out of his ass will make up for it.
well since medical is pre tax the $760.00 does reduce the “premium family plan” to $840.00 does SKW’s plan match that?

so, go to the OP, go to a place where you can drive to work. All things equal, in terms of bases. Go to SkyWest hands down.
Former Mesa and current ULCC Captain here. I know things are different today than a decade ago, but my buddies from our CFI days who went to Skywest are behind everyone else in terms of seniority. They were so caught up in the "QOL" and "we're basically mainline" that they lost sight of the bigger picture and decided to hang around for the long haul. Fast forward to the COVID shakeup and many of those same pilots are now slinging gear at various ULCC/major airlines after spending the better part of a decade at Skywest in the 2010s.

Everyone I know who went to Mesa during that time is either still there because they are not hire-able elsewhere, or like many others (myself included) they clawed their way out within 2-3 years and got in on the hiring wave much earlier and are therefore in a much better seniority position.

YMMV but that is my two cents.

perhaps you are on the employee only value A or value b program?
We pay $175 per pay period, or $350 a month for BC&BS PPO “Cadillac” family plan. Get out of the regionals as quickly as you can.

Skywest.

Rumors that Mesa is going to file Bankruptcy and drop AA flying.
The industry isn’t stable at the moment and we are in a developing recession. Between Skywest and Mesa, Skywest is the most stable.

I heard the rumor about Mesa on the verge of filing BK as well. Anyone have more insight on this?

Rumor no source. The rumor serves the purpose.

My suspicion, is this will be a way to drop AA, since United is "directly" paying for the new pay rate. Otherwise Mesa is having to pay the new rate to pilots while AA is still paying the old rate to Mesa.
