I thought CRJ training was much quicker than E175 training at Mesa? Last spring SkyWest had big delays with people waiting months for CRJ IOE. The actual training should be 6-8;weeks but when sim instructors and IOE check airmen quit you end up with people waiting for sims or waiting for IOE, sometimes for months. Even if a current trainee tells you what the current training wait times are, they may change before you get there. The airline expects you to be ready when they are.

If you want a Seattle or Portland base at SkyWest, choose the E175. If you want a Phoenix base at Mesa, choose the CRJ. There is a rumor that Mesa is planning to declare bankruptcy in order to get rid of their American flying and CRJ aircraft, which means their Phoenix base might close.

In a junior base with lots of movement you might hold a line quickly, but you still won’t get vacation within the first year. You will probably only get one week of vacation after 12 months of employment that you might be able to combine with a few days off on either side if you are lucky.
not exactly as Mesa will let you buy a week of vacation that you can use whenever you can manage to get it awarded (after IOE). March is gonna be tough though.

It’s kinda unfortunate that it falls into March. I’m sure other pilots also have important family events and somehow manage to do everything.

If the airline wanted you to have a family they would have assigned you one during indoc. You are a seniority number and nothing more once you get to the line. As others have said,if you “must” go to this event take a class date after you get back. Also,SkyWeezy over Mesa any day

Why one over the other?
Mesa seems to be in big trouble and more than 50% of their pilots have jumped ship. When I started we had over 1200 pilots now we are down to just over 400…

Have to sign up for that during open enrollment. But yeah if she starts in November it may work. Huge gamble though. Probably will not be done with training.

Woah there Hoss. Br won’t get rid of the Crj as mesa outright owns then all though they are collateral for the govt covid loans and I don’t know how those are impacted in br. There is also no guarantee that a court will abrogate the American contract. Phx might or might not close with or WITHOUT an end to American flying. American can terminate that contract TODAY if they want to. Why haven’t they?

The writing was spray painted on the wall in red paint back in 2019. Covid delayed the exit of Mesa from AA contract work. Envoy is opening PHX and Mesa will use Ch.11 to back out of the AA feed, which AA wants anyway. When Parker left, Mesa went to its last wobbly leg

My suggestion would be to never leave mid training. Pass and complete the events and checkride. That will look good on apps and for interviews.
