Wondering how junior the PHX base would be for a DEC. I understand it’s just the CRJ now, but is that expected to change? Is PHX going to remain as a base for the company? Mulling things over and would greatly appreciate some insight.

Nobody knows the details for certain yet, but PHX is considered an outstation under United. United doesn’t have enough departures to have an actual base there so you may start in PHX with a deadhead to HOU to start your trip. If you’re ok with that you may be happy here. I’d also be concerned that they won’t be sending anyone to PHX who isn’t already there. They kept the bases open so there wasn’t a mass exodus, but PHX and DFW are hubs for American not United…so sending people there now doesn’t make much logistical sense.

Envoy is gradually taking over the American flying out of Phoenix and will be opening a base there soon. I have heard there are some west coast commuters who will likely bid it, but Envoy may be a better bet for a DEC who wants Phoenix long term. No one knows how senior it will be, but there will be growth and turnover.

No one who isn’t already in phx will ever get Phx. It’s crj only. New hires can expect IAH on the 175 or CRJ or DEN on the CRJ. NO ONE will ever be awarded DFW or PHX again.

Does Mesa have a separate line bid for LCA’s. I know a guy who is retiring, and if age goes to 67, would like to be a LCA at a regional to mentor and teach for his last 2 years. Wouldn’t work if he had to sit reserve.
