Title Match tomorrow: Heavy Weight (Delta) VS. Middle Weight (MESA)

If the Mesa majority is anything, they are spineless but then again so is the majority of my fellow pilots here at SKW. Also there are a large %age of spineless pilots on every list.

Mesa: 1446ish pilots, 130 currently on “F” for a %age of 9%.
XJT: 2725ish pilots, 335 on “F” for a %age of 12%.
BUT Mesa has announced intentions to furlough another 250 which would bring the total up to 380 which is 45 more than XJT who has twice the number pilots.
WOW! 380 pilots on furlough would bring Mesa's %age up to 26%. Tthat would put Mesa #2 behind MEH for the highest %age of pilots furloughed. Congrats.
Also keep in mind that XJT completely lost their LAX DAL and Branded flying, they also had a decrease in CAL flying which spurred the furlough. What flying has Mesa lost? Delta? Not yet. Maybe Orenstein knows it’s coming, but then again Mesa’s more than likely going to be losing a lot more than Delta flying over the next 2 years.

Yeah, our contract sucks. What of it? It's still miles away from the working conditions at GLA and GIA (Go Teamsters!) and our work rules are better than Colgan or CommutAir but I am confident that their negotiations will produce a contract that I would envy. Don't get me started by PenAir but maybe they're different because their in Alaska but I have a buddy who got hired there and he tells me horror stories.
In any event, what do you do to make our profession a better place besides showing up to work at what you think is such a beacon of light job that you probably got based on luck? Me, I volunteer. I want to ensure our next CBA makes yours look like crap even if we have to negotiate until rapture, but we'll still have 6 years of an Obama admin by the time we get started. Instead of dumping crap on us how about wishing us luck?
I didn't vote for this contract but all we can do is move forward FROM HERE.

Colgan = 449 pilots (Saabs and Q's)
CommutAir = 130 pilots (Dash's)
Great Lakes = 320 pilots (1900's and E120's)
Gulfstream = 260 pilots (1900's)
PenAir = 120 pilots (Saab's down to Navajo's)
Add them all up and you have 1249 pilots which is 200 less than what Mesa has. These are all very small prop operators and even though they deserve better, Mesa’s a big hitter in the regional industry. Also Colgan, CapeAir, Piedmont and CommutAir all make on average more than you do flying like equipment.
You need to compare Mesa to other Jet operators like Mesaba, Air Wisconsin, SKW, XJT and many others. After you do you’ll see that your new contract is still bottom of the barrel. Did you achieve 100% deadhead pay? How about no loop whole 100% cancellation pay? Etc?
I mean you no offense but if you’re going to compare then compare correctly. Regardless of how you cut it, with JO at the helm Mesa will always be a below average place to work (in terms of QOL and total compensation).

Line Guarantee? Is that like your monthly line holder guarantee of 75 hours? Let's say your month was built to 87 hours, does you line guarantee guarantee you 87 hours?
Let’s say your day looks like this? Blocked at 5 hours with 5 hours of pay
Flight………………Scheduled………...Actual
Leg 1…………………….1:00…………..……1:30
Leg 2…………………….1:00…………..……1:30
Leg 3…………………….1:00…………..……XCLD
Leg 4…………………….1:00…………..……XCLD
Leg 5…………………….1:00…………..……1:00
-------------------------------------------------------
Day……………………..5:00…………………4:00
After flying the below example, what would a pilot be paid after flying the below example at Mesa?
4 hours? 5 hours? or 6 hours?

Yes, Line guarantee is lets say you're awarded a line that has 86 hours, that means you'll get paid a minimum of 86 hours that month no matter how many flights they cancel. Should be paid 6 hours.
BoB is per segment as well, rather than per day. There is a pending grievance for BoB on reserves. The way our CBA was negotiated the BoB for reserve pilots should be paid on top of your guarantee. For example, a reserve pilot's minimum guarantee is 75.8 hours a month. He is scheduled to fly 20 hours that month but blocks 30. He should be paid 85.8 hours. We have the notes from Paul Foley, etc who agreed with this interpretation so I think it should be a slam dunk in arbitration.
This sounds weird but Mesa wasn't a bad place to work, maybe it was just because I was on the Dash but I've really enjoyed my time here. I've flown with some of the most professional and nice guys and gals I've ever met and they've become kind of like a Dash family to me.
