This has been a topic of conversation at SKW. We suspect that JA will not keep Lynx separate...he would gain 100 bottom-feeder pilots on one hand, and lose 2800 pilots to ALPA on the other. Lynx probably isn't worth it.
Would we rush to ALPA if ASA got some new flying? Personally, I don't think we would. How would this be much different? I really think SkyWest acquiring Lynx from RAH is irrational on several levels. Had Southwest been awarded Frontier/Lynx, then I would be more convinced that this was imminent. I think you overestimate our "solidarity" Rick. This furlough, no furlough, maybe furlough, I'm-senior-so-furlough-so-I-can-get-my-87-hours-a-month BS really opened my eyes to some of the selfish jerks we work with. |

I wonder if they'll give then the lovely option of the offer to hire all the Lynx pilots at the bottom of the list on an as needed basis, a la XJT summer 08.

For I think the THIRD time I'm mentioning it, what did SkyWest want to do with XJT pilots had that buyout gone through last summer? |
Unlimited scope relief and more "competitive" pay rates.

It doesnt get any better then reading mesa and colgan pilots fighting over new flying! Keep it going you got my attention.

Not always true: When SKYW bought ASA part of the deal was a new extended fee-for-departure codeshare deal for both SKYW and ASA and that SKYW would hold back $100 mil. of the purchase price for one year or until the guaranteed terms of the codeshare agreement were affirmed in BK court (DAL had not yet declared, but all signs indicated it was imminent).
SKYW got their contract re-affirmed and DAL got their cash. SkyWest Airlines Quote: "St. George, Utah – SkyWest, Inc.,(“SkyWest”) (NASDAQ:SKYW) announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire all of the outstanding stock of Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Inc. (“ASA”), a wholly-owned regional airline subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE: DAL) for a purchase price of $425 million. In addition, SkyWest has agreed to return to Delta $50 million of aircraft deposits. At closing, Delta will receive $350 million in cash, representing $330 million of the purchase price and $20 million relating to the return of certain aircraft financing deposits. An additional $125 million representing $95 million of the purchase price and $30 million relating to the return of certain aircraft financing deposits is payable to Delta upon the earlier of the assumption by Delta of the ASA and SkyWest Airlines Delta Connection Agreements should Delta file for reorganization under Chapter 11, or four years after the closing of the transaction. SkyWest shall be entitled to retain $125 million if Delta does not affirm the ASA or SkyWest Delta Connection Agreements in a Chapter 11 proceeding prior to the fourth anniversary of the closing of this transaction." |
