I'm on the CRJ but it wouldn't have mattered if they'd put me in CASS on Day 1; no time to use it.

I'm ok with street captains, it just means less time on reserve once I upgrade.

Not quite sure if I agree with this. While I believe it's true about the amount of qualified FO's under the most junior FO, the random senior FO's that finally upgrade make it hard to determine when a street CA will happen. Every month it surprises me seeing the senior FO's finally make the upgrade plunge.

Or maybe they already used that guestimate to adjust their future estimate of when a street CA will happen....

What do you guys think will be the PIC / TT requirements for a street CA provided that you already have 1K 121 time?

I'm coming to Mesa from 9E. I was 39 from the most junior Captain there. We (9E) are still downgrading and shrinking fleet size. I was a January 07 pinnacle hire. There is still a fence up for legacy XJ guys so I will have more guys junior to me upgrade before I do, but that won't be for a few years still until we shrink to 81airplanes. But even then, we will then have all super senior captains not leaving. So then you are left with 15 year fo with no chance of being in the left seat. The EtD thing is a LIE. you have to be a captain for a certain amount of time before you can flow up. You will never see the left seat at 9E. Period. This is why I left and many many others are doing the same.

Those of you who are making the lateral move from another 121 we welcome you. We're happy to have you as long as you bring a positive attitude. Please do not bring a chip on your shoulder or start complaining the first day you're here. No one here at Mesa wants to fly with an arrogant cry baby.

I'd have to agree w you Kp. The morale changed horribly at 9E and that was the biggest thing to hurt over there. From the outside looking in it appears the Mesa is about to have a lot of growth and that is a POSITIVE thing. I'm already excited about my future as a YV pilot. It really is what you as a pilot make of it. Being professional and having a positive attitude go a long way in the cockpit. Attitude can make a 4 day trip go really fast or seem like an eternity.

When you are offering classes over the phone I don't think you can be picky about who comes to work at your airline. Spend a few more years in the industry and then maybe you are entitled to tell people how to act how have been in this industry 10X longer than you. 5 years ago Mesa was the cesspool of the industry and anyone who could was making the move to 9E, I expect Mesa to once again fall apart and the same pattern to repeat. In 2 years when this happens you'll be that pilot trying to get hired at 9E and griping about the industry.
