Hearing some things about Mesa crews being left to fend for themselves, by force of company policy, during constant duty overnight situations ?
Is this true ?
If so, is it even legal under 117 (10 hour rest period, 8 of which required to be sleep prior to 121 ops) ?
Not true! I've done CDO's by choice as much as possible for years, and have never not been given a hotel. Even when we end up delayed and get only 45 minutes to lie down in the bed, I have always gotten a hotel.

CDOs are still legal (exempt from the new rules), but they are more restrictive in the sense that there is no more "legal to start, legal to finish" anymore.

If you have a CDO that bumps up against the maximum duty day and run into any sort of delay on the outbound leg, there's no chance you can fly the retro leg.

All CDOs now have to have a 3 hour "sleep opportunity" as well. That means 3 hours behind the door.
