New Contract at Mesa?
When is Mesa's contract up for renewal? Have you begun negotiations with the company yet? I'd expect you guys will make some significant gains on what you have at the moment judging by the current environment?

It would be stupid for us to sign any new contract right now. I am ok waiting a few years... Longer we wait, the more leverage we will have.
As of right now, we are having no issues filling classes. As soon as they have a hard time finding people, I expect things to start moving quickly.
Those 4 CRJ 900's are really going to be 14 by the end of the year and the 30 ERJ175's for united are going to be another 40 if we can staff the first 30.
This amounts to a boat load of new pilots, and with our current pilot pool around 800 means that who ever gets in with Mesa within the next 7 months will have an excellent upgrade opportunity.

Thanks for the replies guys. From the outside looking in some of the FO pay rates seem very low, do you find that the rest of your contract tends to mitigate those headline rates? I know I shouldn't just be looking at hourly rate alone, just trying to work out a budget for the next couple of years.

That helps a lot, thank you! That's actually more than I made at ExpressJet first year. On average I was taking home $1,650. Mind if I drop you a couple of questions via PM?
