Unfortunately, the odds of the company providing us with something anyone would consider "industry standard" or even acceptable without fighting tooth and nail on every little detail along the way with negotiations are basically zero. It's never going to be an issue of minor tweaks. Regardless of how effective you think the outgoing negotiating committee, the position is necessary.

Like I said before, things get bad enough, he is going to offer something good enough to stop the bleeding

I just wonder if we might end up in Republic's position. The more I think about it, the more a merger seems in the realm of possibility.

I wonder how responsive management and ALPA would be to the idea of having the MEC work on a TA with the pilot group first, getting, say around 66% of the pilot group to approve it, and then sending to management to say "this is what it's going to take", hammer out the finer points with management, then send it back to the pilot group for final ratification.

Any new newhires can confirm a rumor about you getting $500 up front for your iPad? And, did you receive more than the $22 per hour min guarantee for the 2 months of training?

June new hire here, neither I, nor anyone else I know, received any payment for our iPads. Nothing more than min guarantee, either.

An acquaintance started yesterday. Said he gets $500 towards an iPad, $250/week food allowance, and $1000 allowance for a crash pad. Don't know if the crash pad is a one time payment or a monthly payment.

Also someone who was hired in July is resigning and going to PSA. He said they offered him a $1000 towards a crash pad if he would reconsider.

Is this a violation of status quo? Is there anyone left from the union here who can speak to this?
