Whatever you say! Let us all know when that magical phone call comes along. Meanwhile I'll be on my way to retiring well into the top 500 at AA

You are a scum bag because you portray yourself as some one who made an informed decision and hand picked the regional airline you went to. Truth is, American Eagle was the first one to say yes to you, and by luck, you scored an 18 year flow, and by luck you are going to sit in a sweet spot on the seniority list. Everyone in your situation is lucky. Don't sell it as anything else.

I think some are mad they had to spend 7-10 years to get where some can be within a year, maybe two. It's the aviation roller coaster. I had to bend over backwards to get a job at Colgan in 2006 and you'd be kicked out of the interview if you even asked how long it would take to upgrade. I could be bitter, but I'm not. These are great times to get into 121, I do hope the newbies realize this isn't really "normal." Granted, the word really has no place in commercial aviation. Ha

To say it takes 1-2 years to get to where you want to be isn't all that accurate. Unless you mean to the left seat, then yes it certainly is taking a lot less time then a decade ago. I've always been in this for the long game, however, and a quick upgrade isn't and never has been as important to me as going to a place that provides the best future over the course of my entire career.

I would wager money that your flow won't work out the way you think it will. Friends of mine sitting at 4-6 year seniority are looking to leave envoy for the mid-level majors. One already left for JetBlue.
American has NO obligation to flow you up if the staffing at Envoy goes to hell, which it will. You're a damn moron for thinking you're in any better of a position than someone at ANY other regional out there, Mesa included.
The industry is freakishly cyclical, and when it goes down again, you can kiss your flow goodbye. Before you know it, you're the grey haired 62 year old E145 captain that you fly with on every trip.
Flow through programs are carrots. So hang on to that precious carrot... But if I were you, I'd stay humble, turn your douchebaggery around, and pray every day that this industry doesn't implode again BEFORE your precious flow date. You're lack of awareness in how this industry works is alarming. Nothing is guaranteed. Not even at Envoy.

You put it quite nicely Piper. 16 years ago a batch of starry eyed kids were promised a 5 year flow through to AA that included being issued a seniority number. Today, those folks are just now flowing.

The flow is absolutely not guaranteed. It's a carrot to get new hires and nothing more. I've predicted the 824 will flow out and then you'll likely see 'adjustments" to the flow agreement. I believe Envoy's Union will be a willing participant in this. Basically there will be no choice. The company is going to drastically alter the flow simply because there aren't enough new guys coming in behind the pilots leaving to allow it to continue to work in such large numbers. The company will tell the union to play ball if you want to have any say in the way anything in the future is structured.

Operational necessity will be the keyword that will allow the company to get away with stopping or altering the flow. The union will threaten a grievance and will likely file one. It will be tied up in negotiations and pending arbitration for 2 to 3 years before anything is ever agreed upon. In the meantime, Envoy pilots will be stuck for the duration in their seats. Just look at the LTFO grievance. Violation occurred in 2012 and 4 years later a tepid remedy is basically agreed upon but not yet implemented.
