So, yeah, if you are eligible for upgrade but turn it down or bid for it, no bonus for you.

Very true... Even if you DON’T turn down upgrade, you still do not get the $20,000. Just being eligible for upgrade kills the last payment. I wonder how many mesa new hires will be cornholed by this small detail.

BOHICA!

Most guys I know aren't worried about the last payment. Most will probably move on to other things by year 3. For most that last payment doesn't matter because maybe 90% of the guys I know have no plans to be around by then. The main thing that most new hires wanted was the latest pay increase. That was immediate and it was a lot of help. After the raise to 36 everyone was sitting nice especially if you add the 300 percent on top for opentime flying. Not uncommon for First Officers to bring home over 5k a month. Especially if they fly out of DFW and pick up trips out of the pot.

For Mesa, that’s good, for rest of the industry, 5k and 8 days off is nothing to brag about.

None were “cornholed” in my class. We all expected to be CA’s by then or moved on. No one expected to get the bonus.

I expect to see more FO’s jump ship as other regional FO pay is going to be higher than our current contract CA pay.
