Are the pilots trying to shut Mesa down?
The last contract proposal was bad so I could understand.

The MX pay is also below industry average, is it not?

Pilots aren't trying to shut down Mesa. They are simply leaving to better paying jobs. They are tired of being abused by Ornstein and his henchmen and getting poverty wages that are well below industry standard in return. This summer will be a bloodbath.

Sounds like a bloodbath indeed!
I hope you all make it to Legacy Carriers and Mesa can shape up soon!

Dear Houston Pilots

As you are aware of the many Junior Assignments that have prevailed this month. I am working on gathering some performance statistics for this base in the weeks to come. Month to date Houston has the largest absences of the 4 Mesa bases. The large amount of those who have not been able to work have caused the calls to the few that were available to be Junior Assigned. I thank those who have volunteered for the Junior assignments, in several cases if it was not for your efforts those flights would have cancelled.
. . .
I am asking for volunteers to work on their days off to offset these absences.

Regards
I.P.

Ian is the same D-bag who was driving by, taking pictures of the pilots during the picket. He is a complete company W*ore, who will life it here until the company goes under. My fellow pilots, quit picking up over time and quit accepting Juniors.. There is nothing the company can do except pony up. End of rant*

If you further read what I am talking about you may finally understand that I am saying JO will need a TA really soon like in 3 months or you will be in deep cancel mode. Vacations, flights, JRA's etc. as well. I spent almost 14 years at Mesa. I have seen JO's tactics and garbage. I was at Mesa when they almost went under in 2008 but age 65 saved the day. I was also around for the last two TA's to pass. Each time it was some excuse that you will get more later. Never happened. Now is your best chance. I also see it more clearly now that I am on the outside looking in. Foley is just a ploy bringing him back to scare you. So before you try going after me why don't you try to understand what I am saying first. Try to realize I am on your side. So why attack me???
Then accept my most abject apologies, I think you may be one of the few folks here who understands the glacial pace of negotiations. Too many pilots think that mediation automatically means the NMB will direct Mesa to pay their pilots an equitable wage. Unfortunately several members of the current MEC are of this exact opinion; I've heard it from someone in the room at the last MEC meeting. They seem to think that "tearing up the status quo" will get results at the speed of light for the pilot group because they're somehow more righteous than management.

I heard that the offer from the company was barely better than the failed TA and included some of JO's patented BS to try and gain an agreement that he seems to feel will be beneficial to the pilots but really only benefits him. JO's bad decisions in Hawaii and China (you have to hand it to the Chinese, I think they saw through him in record time) have helped bring the company to this pass. There is no path forward with the engine payments, and the debt he's acquired in his drive to bring new planes on line. Unfortunately he's continued to count on a staffing model that became obsolete when AAG decided to essentially shred the FFD model with their wholly-owned carriers. Every time he speaks, he's bringing up 1500 hour rule, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that he's made substantial contributions to the Trump folks to get a "fair" hearing on overturning the rule.

Get your resumes ready, network, go to job fairs. Don't wait for the MEC or Mesa to reach an accord that pays us what we're worth. Ever.
