And, people were shown the door? They weren’t afforded additional training and then given the oral again or the stage again?
As for SIMs, I could see that more than any other stage. Either you have basic flying skills and can play a hyped up video game (the sim) well, or not. If you can’t figure out the sim after a couple of sessions in it, a new hire is just wasting everyone’s time and Mesa a bunch of money.

Everyone thinks they are “Top Gun” in aviation until they get their ass handed to them. The good ones take it as a lesson learned and make sure it never happens again. The bad ones throw hissy fits. Aviation has humbled me every time my ego got too big for its own good.

They did start to be stricter with the ‘extras’ right after the management changes this year. I saw guys I never expected to have a problem get shown the door. It should not be a hard and fast number (which is 3), and should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Otherwise they are going to be spending even more money on training in the long run. But remember Mesa is cheap, not smart.

Be ready for a lot of self-studying once you get the material. You basically have to teach yourself here, especially during the sims. It totally depends on which instructor you get.

I have the cbt and study guide. Should I have all of that down before I show up? I know there is a limitations test when you get there. I suppose it won’t hurt to have studied it all.

Unless they’ve recently changed it, the first test you get is the Indoc test. Limitations questions would be in your Systems test.

Just for fun, here's pilots by base over the last two years. Since SDF is basically DFW flying, they're combined for more accurate comparison.

It won’t take long before Republic or SkyWest starts flying the Ejets we have. I haven’t seen anything about ATL lately. Is ATL really going to happen? None of the lead up to the SDF base.
