More people wanted Atlanta than Louisville. No one really seems to want to be SDF based, save for a few. ATL would have been a good base.

I agree. But, to be efficient, they needed United to agree to launch flights out of ATL to other United hubs early in the morning. Apparently, they could never get United buy-in. Right....

How long before SDF closes?

Let’s go through the broken promises:
10 new Ejets in 2017 - nope. More like 5 new Ejets.
ATL base in June 2018 - nope. United wouldn’t cooperate. Blame your partner, not yourself.
CPP - not going to happen. United will NOT want to help the American system recruit pilots. And, no other regional in the CPP program allows a pilot outside of the United bases to participate.

I understand your frustration. Being based at home is priceless. I apologize in advance, but I have to say that everyone who came to Mesa looking to be based in ATL was taking a huge risk and was being downright naive. If you want to be based in ATL at the regional level you should go to one of the "in good standing" Delta Connection carriers, i.e. Endeavor or SkyWest.

I can't help it but assume that in the U.S. its easy to loose the big picture of how the geographical aviation markets work since there are so many major hubs, mergers, and the industry is constantly transforming. Let me put this in a global perspective: If you want to be based in Frankfurt where would you try to go to: British Airways or Lufthansa?

Even Republic's management (outstation basing supporters) have acknowledged the challenges of the outstation basing system and are slowly moving to a hub base system.

Also, when is the ATL standing bids going to be allowed?
There's never been an FO slot in the standing bid for IAH though.

If ATL was opening in June, this standing bid should contain both ATL and IAH.

Oh okay, but we know it's not.

Atl not opening so that doesn’t really work as a reason.

Not when I posted my original comment. ATL was still being advertised as opening in June when I made my comment.

Instead of being honest up front whenever they decided they weren’t opening ATL, they waited until the 6/1 Standing Bid was out and it was obvious ATL wasn’t opening.
