I see on APTAP that they are claiming hiring is not going to continue this calendar year for AIA Pilots. They have to concentrate on Marshals or something like that. The poster claimed hiring would happen in the new year. Works out perfectly for me since I'm deployed until January. I turned down my last interview because I was deploying (and it wasn't my first choice place), but I don't think I would turn down another one.

browse around there a bit. Good stuff.
As far as getting stuck in a C-206 or C-210, I would much rather fly a 210, get paid $60K+, have some adventure, and actually "fly the plane" than to get paid $35K, twists knobs on an Embraer RJ, and read the same newspaper as my Captain and be a fricking monkey for ATC.

The emails I just got said that the spots that I applied for in the last round were all filled by somebody else. This makes sense to me since I turned down the interview. I think the ones that I got were all automated emails just to let me know that if I'm still waiting around for those jobs, they are not there anymore. We'll see when the next round of interviews starts.

I EOD on Monday, and go to FLETC Wednesday. In my case, my Air Barnch consists of a single C206 and one Blackhawk.
From my discussions with HR they plan to interview in Jan/Feb and FLETC is to be in March 09.
Many of the guys who got slots this year were informed that their locations were full (Tuscon and San Antonio), and they were offered a position in the pool or another single alternate location was given over the phone. Even after being hired, I got the emails about other positions being filled by another applicant - you see when we accept a position from our list, we email back "accepting this position and declining all others." That email probably follows close behind our acceptance.
If you are able to, I would recommend accepting whatever location is offered and sort out the transfer to your desired location later. I have been told over and over that HR is not exactly in tune with the needs of the Air Branches and that transfers may occur within about one year.
Your best information on the current hiring will be on APTAP.ORG. HR now has over 2500 applications and was working 6 days a week for over 3 months; so hold your phone calls if able, however they always seem happy to speak with applicants with intelligent questions; very nice people in CBP HR!

New job posting for CBP Instructors
For anyone who is not interested or too old to be a law enforcement officer: there are currently two postings on USAJobs for instructors at OKC and El Paso. The job listings for these positions formerly required CFII. They now say: "A current FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certificate. Equivalent U.S. military Flight Instructor ratings may be substituted."

Did he get an EOD date or just a conditional offer? There is a big difference between the two. I found out, like others, that a conditional offer for a specific location, doesn't always mean you will be offered a job in that location. If your friend wants San Diego, hopefully he has a firm offer with an EOD and a FLETC class. Then for certain he will be going to San Diego. I just have a conditional offer, not a firm one yet.. Keeping the faith it is coming soon after the new fiscal year. Delta is a good job, but I can't say I blame him for leaving for an AIA position. My personal opinion only, it is probably in the top two or three aviation jobs in the country...Thanks for keeping the thread going with me...
Finally got around to seeing him again and asked the question.
He got an EOC date. He had a formal offer to San Diego, repoerts there in mid-Dec and then has a FLETC date at the end of Dec.
