Anyone know if already having a current SSBI and TS/SCI
w/CI & Lifestyle polygraph would be considered as "prior
specialized skills & experiences" to waive the 1500TT
requirement???

IIRC, it says somewhere that tactical/combat experience could be used for waiver. I don't remember exactly where I remember that discussed. Either way, it seems like the applications are getting more and more competitive, so if you don't have at least 1500 hours, I'm not sure how you'll score. Bottom line is that if you put in the application, they will tell you pretty quickly whether they consider you qualified for the job.

If you've been called for interview, is that a good sign that you'll likely be hired or do they do a lot of interviewing with relatively few hired?

It's a very good sign but don't take it for granted. Go to the interview prepared (study) and I recommend going to a local Flight School and rent a C172 or similar small single engine and practice some approaches, holds, engine out, steep turns etc with an IP.

Good luck

When I spoke with the HR rep at the interview she said being called to interview means you have the qualifications they want from an applicant. So getting the call is a very good sign. Study up on Part 91 and the AIM.

I got my NOR bumped up to 96 with the Vet Preference. It just got overlooked somehow on the initial application. Now I'm back in the ballpark with most everyone else.

New word over on APTAP is that the location selections won't be a factor in determining if you do or do not get an interview. Just a guide as to what locations you might get offered. Thanks to WH for taking the bullet for the team and asking.

I've never been one for good timing, but got my app in on the 10th, and got my NOR on the 12th. 99 w/vet pref.; 1360 total hours, single-engine and rotary instrument/commercial, IP, NVD, etc., etc. Forgot to have my admin include awards on the statement of service; oh well...seems the scoring process is somewhat subjective in nature, anyway. This must happen in batches, not on a case-by-case (or app by app) basis.

Bothers me a little that the location isn't firm; I just applied to, and was picked up by a reserve unit in Jax. I put all three Florida locations on preference, thinking I'd make life easier on myself and my future prospective boss and fellow employees by not having to miss a bunch of work for reserve duty. There I go, trying to "common sense" the government...you'd think I'd learn after 12 years...

Yeah, all three offers I got weren't on my list of five preferences. I guess using common sense isn't so common anymore. (especially in the Gov't) You may have more choices than I did, due to you being dual rated. Good luck to you!

Heard that CBP is only projecting about 24 new and 50 retirement replacement positions this year. Thus only expecting to hire about 75 guys this year... not too good of odds.... Also heard that 50% of the AIA are due for mandatory retirement in the next 5 years, and since it takes about 2-3 years to get someone from application to an EFFECTIVE agent... they are probably going to have a big gap in personal... Can anyone validate these numbers?

Guess no word on when if the next round of interviews for AIAs is....
