UAL vs AA

UAL's commuter clause requires you to have two options, either online or offline, that get you to work on time. If they both crump, the company will most likely give you a positive space ticket or maybe reschedule you. As long as you do your part, you are in the clear. Reserving a jumpseat would be nice, but I don't know if I like the idea of a "fastest finger" contest either.

DAL has basically the same thing but it's not just for to/from work that makes it nice. As someone who has worked/commuted/traveled at companies that do both, I can tell you that being able to reserve the JS is infinitely better for both junior and senior.

AA just needs one option for their commute option. Most guys still have a backup but it is nice not having to document what your backup is. I havent missed a commute but the word on the street is that 3x in a year will result in no penalty, I guess after 3 in a rolling 12 month period the CP begins counseling. Being able to reserve the jumpseat is huge v hoping some nimrod comes strolling up last second kicking you off. On the day it happened to me I missed out on my backup because by the time I got out of the jumpseat and ran over to the other gate it was too late. Ended up spending $110 on an Uber from LGA to EWR.

The seniority progression has been outstanding at AA and the ability to drop.swap my schedule has been great from day 1. I did one day of short call in NY, 1 DAY. I have had a line every since. At UAL I would have been on reserve in EWR for awhile. I am about 40% in NY but could go to any base but CLT. Couldnt have done that at UAL.

Yes the balance sheet sucks. If I was younger I would have stayed at UAL but I am upper half of 40;s so for me I am not too worried. If I was 30 it might have been a different decision.

Plus no damn hat.
You do know those commuter clauses are negotiated within those contracts that change right?

Pick the one that fits your quality of life, ignore the rest because all of it will change.

Did I say I picked AA soley for the commuter clause? Re-read it again
