Default Reservist to airlines

Any recommendations for a reservist trying to make a jump to the majors?
3000tt
1100: 121
Rest is GA and 1 deployment in a heavy.

Thanks bros!

You'll probably need to put in your time with a regional first. Pick one that has domiciles you're OK with and has a flow thru to your major airline of choice. You might be competitive at an Ultra Low Cost Carrier, I'll let others speak to that. Freight carriers like Atlas might be an option, but be very careful with what you'd be getting into. Read all the threads on this website about the airline you decide to apply to.

Ideally you also have 1,000+ TPIC. Just apply and do professional interview prep + application/resume review. Get an FAA 1st Class physical. Network.

Only AAG WO has a flow.

UAL and DAL are nothing but preferential selection programs.

I had 2900 TT when I got hired at a legacy. You should be competitive, I’m assuming from ur handle you were a FAIP and have close to 1k PIC and IP time. That’s easily competitive at just about every airline. You have 121 training already which makes you a known entity. Apply everywhere and I’m betting you get a call in short order. The big advice I’d give you is make sure your apps are tight. Get them reviewed and get at least 4 letter of rec, preferably internals and keep updating every week or two. Good luck

I second the above. You sound competitive for a major. But also put your apps in with a couple of regionals that have good QOL for you. Heck, I've known guys who were in training with a regional and got class dates with a legacy before they even finished.

I missed the IP time, that should help depending on how the airlines look at it. Primary trainers tend to be under 12,000lbs, advanced trainers usually are more. A bunch of IP/PIC time in a T-1 (BeechJet) would probably be more competitive than the same time in a T-6 Texan turboprop.

Also, I strongly suggest getting professional interview prep done. I don't know about you but I sucked at those "tell me about a time when...." questions. When I interviewed for a Sim Instructor job last year they threw an odd question at me, they asked "if we could duplicate you into AirBear 2.0 why should we hire AirBear 1.0". Talk about a deer caught in the headlights....

That's funny, because in many cases that's exactly the dilemma they have. Although these days they usually try to make the call at the application stage, and then hire most or even all of the folks they actually call.

I am trying to transition from reserve, C-130, to the legacy side and seem to have hit a wall myself.

ATP
3300 TT
1730 PIC
2860 Turbine
800 Instructor
1440 Turbine PIC

I just completed Checked and Set application review and I'm going through interview prep now with EC. Had my applications in for over a year and a half now. Any thoughts on if I'm just aiming too high? My unit doesn't typically offer more than 200 flying hours a year - budgets aren't what they used to be.

No shame in going to a regional, getting a type and some jet/121 time. You’ll likely get called within a couple months. If your apps have been in for a year and a half at legacies, I’m guessing you would be off probation at a legacy had you bit the bullet and went to a regional 18 months ago. Especially since you are getting 200 or less hours a year.
