well, if the FRENCH tanker performs as well as its crews do with regards to altitude holding ability and general SA in the air, this new tanker will be the best addition EVER to the USAF!!
just got back from AEF over in Afghanistan and the BEST tanker, BAR NONE, was a French tanker we refueled from. These guys had their Sh*t together!! They had awesome SA in the air and were always asking if we needed anything, could they drag us somewhere, etc, etc....PLUS their altitude NEVER waivered.....wish I could say THAT for the USAF tanker fatties (i am talking about -135 dudes here.....-10's are another headache...ugh)
I was VERY impressed!! Here's to Total 62....
Jeff
P.s....they also had porn hanging in all of the window (NSTFS)....I thought i had traveled back in time to the Desert Storm days...ha.ha

Dear Jeff,
We just wanted to thank you for your vote of confidence. Sorry we all can't be as perfect as you are, but at least you're giving us something to shoot for. By the way, next time you let your WSO fly the refueling, we will include a complimentary tail wash AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE! Break turns are one thing, but actually holding stable on the boom is something entirely different.
We will make an ops-note in your honor to be sure that our tankers go out of their way in the future to find you and your flawless bretheren THE ONLY French tanker.
With "all due" respect,
your friendly neighborhood tanker

Bashing the French is kind of fun, it's done all around the world, but these frog flying videos are kinda cool.

So did they hand over your ATO to the taliban? Oh, wait, the frogs are good dudes with their "sh-t together." They would never hand over the ATO to the bad guys...or spy on us...or develop jammers to use against us then sell them to our enemies. Yup, they are good dudes.
You are either a lieutenant who is too naive to understand, or (hopefully, for your sake) you are a french dude who logged on for covert PR. If you continue to claim you are an American fighter dude, then print out your post and bring it to your weapons officer immediately for his feedback. Expect that to consist of a swift boot squarely in the junk.
By the way...that frog "tanker" you love...he was sniffing your trons the whole time. Maybe it was just to be friendly.
Shame!

nope, not a LT, just someone who has seen my fair share of crappy tanker fatties unable to hold altitude or have the SA to find their way out of a thunderstorm.
i will admit that there are a FEW SELDOM occasions that tanker guys have helped us out, but for the most part, they hold up their end of drinking coffee while orbiting in the tanker track while we do all the work.
hey, dont get me wrong, i think the French have done some shaddy things, but we are not talking about that here. We are talking about tankers and, in this case, a very good tanker crew that was flying a KC-135 and doing a great job. Again, like i said, they were the best tanker crew i have ever refueled from.
with regards to WW (winged wheeler), i would suggest you go back and check your facts with regards to drogue only....maybe you could read a book about it while you orbit in the tanker track, practicing your ability to hold altitude within 500 feet.
i have a pic of us on the boom...PM me for it or i will post it in the thread to prove that WW doesnt know what HE is talking about..
